Our last day!!! It is unreal how quickly the time goes when you are on vacation!
Today we decided to seek out some casinos we have never visited. After breakfast of blueberry muffins in the room (I am all egged out), we decided to head to Hooters. We always eat at the Hooters at the Tropicana in AC whenever we visit, but had never gone to the casino in Vegas. I was really shocked at how small the casino area is. Everyone seemed nice, we got our cards and I used the free $10 slot play from MRB. I was up and down on video poker. At lunch time we ate at the Hooters restaurant. I love their chicken wings. John got his usual grilled cheese and fries. Both were very good.
Next we headed out on Boulder Highway, as I remembered seeing some small casinos there.
First stop was at Skyline casino. Also a small casino, and tons of locals all knowing each other. Once inside, we realized that we HAD been to this casino – our Vegas friends took us here in October. We played for hours on $20.00 which was very nice. Lots of people on the coin dropper double bonus machines. It was like a flash back to old times, with people sitting there will filled coin buckets, and some people feeding quarters into the machines. I tried one machine, but had no luck on it.
Next stop was Joker’s Wild. Free wheel spin with sign up, I got a $10 meal coupon and John got $5 free slot play. We played some nickel machines, and played for a long time before our 20 dollar bills were gone. On the way out, stopped at the snack bar for hotdog, chips and a drink for $3.00 each. The cashier convinced us to spend the entire $10 and added cookies to the order. I have to say the hot dogs were quite nice!!! Grilled, not boiled, and oversized toasted bun.
Lastly, we stopped to gas up the rental, and returned to Palace Station, telling the valet we will need the car at 6:15 am. Our flight leaves at 9 AM, but we need to return the car, and the television is saying security is heightened at the airports, so we are leaving plenty of time to get through the lines.
Final thoughts: It was nice to come back to Vegas again. I hope to be able to return in October. I really detest the long plane rides now. We had no issues with the rental car – EZ car rental is probably the easiest I have used. I like the back up feature on the Chevy Malibu we rented, it shows you all around the rear of the car, and I really like that. That is something I will look for on my next auto purchase. The older we get, the faster the time goes. Note to self: remember to pack body wash, as the tiny little bars of soap are just horrid. When we visited in October 2012, it rained a few days we were here, I like April and October as it generally is cold where I live and I so enjoy the weather here – usually. This trip, it was in the 60s the first half of our stay! It didn’t hit 80 until Friday, and was nice the rest of our week. I just love the sunshine; I don’t get enough of it working 10-hour days.
Thank you for reading my report!!! I hope more of you will post your trips, as I love reading them.
