VP Progressive & Comp Quest 2012 @ The Orleans Day 2

DAY 2 Aug 4

After our 21 hour first day I'm up at 6 am after 4 hours of sleep. I am running on what I call Vegas adrenaline....Mrs. M thinks I'm crazy as she MUST have her sleep.

I fire up the iPad and begin reviewing and writing day 1 TR. After about an hour, I'm feeling a little sleepy so back to bed for another hour of shut eye.

Could get back to sleep so ran down to activate my LVA play $10 get $10. Bellied up to my favorite triple play nickels progressives near the buffet. The progressive jackpot is current around $3200.... LET THE QUEST OF THE PROGRESSIVE BEGIN!
Play my $10....downloaded my free $10....got down to $1 and hit a wild royal....two hands later dealt five aces and a few hands later dealt 3 deuces. Hit four deuces, five three and five eights for a nice 1,300 credit hit. Played a bit more and cashed out at $60....recoup some of my losses last night.

Back up to the room to see if Mrs. M has rolled out and is ready to take on the world. Inform her that we have three more match plays to play....she is less than thrilled. Head down to the still quiet table area. Play our first MP...looking for Red-even.....hits Red 32 YES...another $40. Mrs. M has now just been converted to a MP fan. She has one more to play....back on even...hits odd....lost $10 bucks...still up a total of $40 via MP.

We plan on hitting the Saturday Champagne Lunch which starts at 11:00 so we have time to burn. Back over to the triple play nickels which has a dealt progressive at $3,300. We sit down and play for about 2 hours finally cash out with a loss of $60 which is what I won earlier.

Off to the lunch. By this time a little line has started so we jump in. 10 minutes later we are partaking (in what I feel) is one of the best deals in town. $9.99 minus $1 for Bconnected card and a 40% discount for using points. So for $10 worth of points we gorged ourselves...again.

Round 1 of my desserts....didn't take pix of round 2 and 3

Once again (as was last year) we seem to be the only one's drinking champagne.....haven't figured that one out. Anyway our friendly waiter Robert kept the glasses full during our feast. Finally he just brought the bottle out after our 7th or 8th glass....I lost track. Mrs. M was contemplating if she wanted one more glass. Robert asked "Are you on vacation?" "Yes" replied Mrs. M....."There is your answer!"
Back comes Robert with a bottle again.
Finally after about an hour of gluttony I seem to detect a twinkle in Mrs. M's eye. I know that look as we don't drink much, but when we do......well we know the rest of the story. It's only noon, so off to our room we go.

I wake back up at two, Mrs. M is still in a coma recovering nicely. I take some time to jot down some TR notes, take a shower and get dressed. 2 pm and I'm back down to play some more!

Our plan for today is to hit the Gold Coast video poker tourney. Once we finish there we were going to head to the Palms for our slot play coupons, but since we are running behind we'll do that Sunday.

Off to the Gold Coast we go. We find a couple of the quarter 99.8% quarters again thanks to vpFree. Quickly earn our 100 pts to qualify for the VP tourney.
I lost $10 Mrs. M won $50....up $40 already!

Ran over and got ready to play. I notice that the game is DDB which my wife looks at me & says....I have no clue what I'm going. We used to play this game a lot before we convert over to deuces games. I still play from time to time, but she insists that this may be an exercise in futility. We play our 15 mintues and I sucked it up....a whopping 985. The attendant help us got a good chuckle...he said "look who doesn't have a clue"....she had racked up over 2,500 pts and will most likely be in the money. They said they'll post the result by midnight tonight...cool bean!

After that we walked over to activate our $10 FP from our LVA coupon for play $10 earn $10.
A quickly lost my $10 on a nickel machine. Karen jumped down and played as I watch next to her. She was up and down. Bored I threw in a $20 to machine next to her and thought I'd try quarter DDB since we just played in in tourney.
Three hands in I hit quad 4s....nice $100. Cashed out and left.
Up $140 plus Mrs. M is in the money which we were told they started posting at mid-night. ......we'll swing by later.

Next are planning to see Louie Anderson tonight at The Palace Station. I picked up a groupon for $25 for two tickets. The group says that I can exchange voucher until 6:30 but we head over early & I was gong to try to get them early. It's 5:30 and I head to the box office. I ask one of the suites if this is were I pick up the tickets. He said yes, but they had moved the show from 7:00 to 8:30......and someone would be at the box office just in front of the show at 7:00 or so.
We have time to burn so we plop down on a nickel BDW machine just in front. We play for two hours on $20 finally go bust just as the gates open at 7:30.

I was surprised how small the show room was....so we should have great seats. Since we just had general admin tickets from groupon I expected to be seated in the back....nope. Front row seats...cool.
The first two young guys that opens were really funny. The second is actually going to be on the TV show Glee this coming season....first name is Holly. Very funny young man...

Louie was good....I actually stopped and talked to him just before the show. He was out playing the slots in a hat.....I don't think anyone else even recognized him. It was pretty evident that he no longer really has an "act" as far as a set goes. Everything seemed to be pretty much off the cuff. I'm sure since he has been at it for 33 years he has plenty of material, but it just flowed from one topic to another as it related to who he was talking to in the crowd. There was a pilot in the crowd so he talked about the airline industry....someone else was from Canada so we went there for a while. Seemed a tad bit out of it at times and rambled, but still was plenty of fun. 3.5 claps.

After the show we came back to The Orleans to play more triple play nickel progressives! The dealt jackpot was up to $3,500 and you had to fight to get a seat. All of the senior locals had hoaned in on them. (It will be a battle to get a seat for the rest of the trip!)
Our plan was to play till midnight then head to The Courtyard Cafe for their graveyard specials. Then head to Gold Coast to see if Karen had placed in VP tourney. We played for about two hours highlight was being dealt 5 aces.....had quite a few 5-of a kinds during the play. Cashed out up $60 between Mrs. M and myself.

Head to Couryard to eat.....one problem, graveyard specials not offered on Saturday night. Damn......hop in the car and hit Palace Station for their Grand Cafe specials. Mrs. M and I had 3 of their specials split between us....ohhhh too much food. Eggs, hash browns, bacon, toast and pancakes. Everything was great for $8.00....for breakfast food....... 5 forks....maybe it was because I was starving!

Gambing for the day....+$200

Decide we'll check Karen's score out tomorrow. Finally get back to The Orleans at 2:30 and crash!
Day 3 "the marathon vp session" next.
Very nice! Thanks for that! With tournaments I always say you never know what might happen and so if you are able to take advantage of being in one, it could be very good!
