VP Progressive & Comp Quest 2012 @ The Orleans Day 3

Day 3

Actually slept in (for me) and woke at 8:00 am.....I'm a VERY light sleeper and usually wake up 3 or 4 times a night. Not this morning a full 5 1/2 hours and I was up.....not feeling real well though. Head was pounding from a combo of things....a bit of dehydration, the numerous screw-drivers and I think the 21 hour first day is catching up.

Anyway, can't sleep so head down stairs to check my email and jot down notes for my report. Go the coffee shop (Vegas Java) and use their free WiFi. Finish and decide to run over to the hosts lounge and introduce myself. I had been reading on several blogs that everyone should do this and perhaps scores some comps no matter how much of a low-roller you may be. I had email one of the host before I left and then talked to her on the phone. In the past we have been VERY low rollers playing nickel VP only and wasn't really expecting much as far as comps go.

I sit down and get to talking with our host. She pulled up our account and checked our play so far. She noticed that we were here on a 2 comp night offer and paid online rate for our third night. She promptly removed the charge and said that this night would now be comped. She asked why I hadn't been charging food to my room. I told her what we had eaten, I just paid for with points. She told me to be sure to charge the rest of my food onto the room and give her a call or stop before we check out. She said more than likely she'd be able to comp that as well. SCORE! Didn't see that coming.

Starting today we are double booked. We have three nights booked at the Flamingo, but may ask to see if she would extend our comped room for two more nights. We'll head over and check out The Flamingo and may stay one night, but I guess we are just too comfortable here. We'll see in the morning if she can swing it....as we are planning to gamble quite a bit today since it is 7X points.

After my nice chat with our host, I head down to check out the triple plays again. No one had hit yet... now at $3,600. Threw in a $20 and played for about 20 minutes and it was gone. My head was still pounding so I decided to get a cup of coffee. Waitress brings me my coffee and as I begin to head back up to my room I see the triple play quarters near the buffet. Hmmmm, shall I throw in a twenty just for giggles....sure. About five hands in I hit 4 OAK...nice $100 hit. Play for about 30 minutes more, rack up some points and cash out +$80. Minus my $20 on nickels, I'm up $60 already and the Mrs. has gotten up yet.

Back up to the room....just as I start to put my card key in my phone rings.....I open the door and say HELLO! Mrs. M was up and ready to go.

In addition to 7X points, today if you earn 100 points, you can get a cooler + a 6 pack of Pepsi (or Bud Light). So we play a quick 100 pts on our cards, cash out even, and jump in line with the rest of the local retires in line getting their freebies. We keep laughing at the fact that we are the youngest ones playing the triple plays and in line for the freebies.

Our big score of a 12-pack of Pepsi & 2 coolers....lol.

After our cooler play, it's now time to hit the champagne brunch a second time. My head still isn't right so I only partake in one glass today. The buffet was once again outstanding. Highlights for myself included their short rib, orange chicken, oven baked pizza, and of course dessert.
(4.5 forks)
Total....$18 charged to hopefully to be comped later.

While eating we ran through our agenda for today. Before each trip I always place each days coupons in separate envelopes for each day. Today's envelope includes the $40 slot play for each of us from slotplaycoupons.com at The Palms, $10 Free play coupons from Hard Rock and $10 MP at Hard Rock.
So our plan is to head to Gold Coast and check the VP Tourney results, head over to The Palms and play our $80 in slotplay, hit Mr. Lucky's at the Hard Rock for the $7.77 Steak/Shrimp special and eventually end back up at The Flamingo for a late check in and a chance to check out the rooms. We'll probably just spend the night at The Orleans and decided if we'll move later.

After eating, Mrs. M needs to use the restroom. While waiting I throw in $20 to a quarter machine near the restrooms & played standing up....big mistake. Have you even had that feeling that someone was standing behind you watching your play??.....well, I had that feeling while I was playing. I just thought it was another guy waiting for his wife, but turned out not to be. Just before Karen came out there was a group of people that all came through at once and sort of crowded the place. The guy bumps into me, but I thought nothing about it.
To make a long story short I get out the car an realize the envelope that I had sticking out of my back pocket had been lifted. Crap! It has our $80 in slotplay and other coupons.....down the drain.....maybe not.
I brought an electronic pdf file on my Galaxy Tab of the coupons. Off to The Palms to see if we can redeem them that way. Talked to the lady at the counter...no problem. She just needed the redemption code on each of them. Whew, relieved that we could still use them.

Find a bank of BDW quarter machines and promptly loose $40 a piece.

We jump in the car and head across the street to the Gold Coast. Find the results board and Mrs. M won $50!

We head to the same games that we played the day before. Mrs. M plays through her $50 on the nickle BDW machine and I play the quarter DDB that I had won $100 yesterday. She is up $40 and I'm down $60.

We run by Wal Mart to buy fan for Mrs. M....hers feel off the nightstand the night before and she must have a fan to sleep. After that we head back to The Orleans for a nap at 4:00 and prepare for a long night.

We wake up around 7:00, get cleaned up and head to The Hard Rock for our free play and Mr. Lucky's.
We each play through our $10 play. I won $20 and Mrs. M was up $10. Up $30 so far.

Head to Mr. Lucky's to eat. Mrs. M seems less than thrilled with this entire experience. The entire placed seemed like I was back in college on spring break. Tons of twenty something kids running around in bathing suits and being quite obnoxious. Once again...I'm feeling old. I know at one time I would of loved this place....but years ago.

We finish our meal, which I thought was just OK. I'd much prefer the Ellis Island steak special....but I can now say that I've tried it.
(3 forks)
Total....$20 w/ tip (paid for by the $30 winnings of FP coupons)

Took the other $10 we won and played a match play.....one more MP win.
We leave The Hard Rock up $20 and a free meal. Can't beat that...but probably won't be back.

We swing by The Flamingo to check in and look at the room. Line pretty small, but I try the KIOSK...no go. Says that my reservation type can not check in via KIOSK???? There was only two people to wait on so it really didn't matter. Check in and I'm told. We don't have the KING non-smoking Luxury view that you reserved. We can give you a KING smoking room or two queens. What? Fine I'll take the two queens since my Mrs. M can not stand smoking rooms. Head up to our rooms on the ninth floor.
First impressions....wow this is a small room with a not so luxury view. Too low and can't see anything.
Looks like I'll be talking to my host to see if we could just stay at The Orleans for the rest of our stay.

After that waste of time we head back to The Orleans for THE MARATHON session.
We sit down about 10:00. The progressive dealt jackpot is now nearing $4,000 for these triple-play nickels. One of the royal lines in also approaching $400. We somehow luck out and a couple of locals call it a night just as we approach. I announce to everyone that line A in mine....let the battle begin.

Mrs. M and myself both throw in $40 and play....and play.....and play. Seems like dozens of people come and go expect for one lone older lady (Maria) to Mrs. M's right. I'm feeling pretty good by about 1 am and start sing along with the 80s tunes playing in the casino. Mrs. M apologizes for my sing to Maria. She chuckles and says that it's fine, and that it's helping her stay awake as she had been there hours before us.
Anyway, the marathon lasts for a few more hours...then about 4 am I finally hit a Royal....not the line I wanted, but about $250. We continue...with our eyes on line A...... about 5:30 Mrs. M finally hits it for a little more than $460. I cash out around $200 and Karen with a nice $500 win.
It is now almost 6:00 am. We say our good-byes to Maria (as we've gotten to chat with her for last few hours) and tell her good luck.

My Royal

Mrs. M's Royal

Note the time 5:48....8 continuous hours of play!

So after eight hours of play we net nearly $700 and have accumulated nearly 70,000 points as it was mostly played on 7X points..... I check out card balance and we are now at 18,000 points....we may just make the 25,000 points to make the next card level before we leave. Yes!

We head to our room not really aware of the time until we walk into our room. The window is open and the sun is coming up! Holly cow!

Sunrise as we go to bed.....

We are supposed to check out in a few hours, but really don't want to....guess I'll have to get up in just a few hours, talk to my host and see if we can extend out stay.....

Day 4 up next.....even though we're already 6 hours in.
Wow! Very nice! Thank you for your report and for the very nice photos -- especially those of both of your Royal Flush hits!

That's really rotten about the pickpocketing! Maybe you should have told hotel security about it and had the Eye In The Sky look to see who these people are so maybe that won't happen again.

With me, I carry many things including playing strategy charts as well as coupons in a bag that I have (sometimes it's a bag from the Auto Club [AAA]).

Love the Vegas sunrise! Real nice work hitting those Royals.

I bet that prick thought your envelope was filled with currency not coupons. LOL! You had the last laugh there.
Excellent Day 3! Great score on the Orleans comps, MP wins, VP tourney win, and of course the Royals! Flamingo sounds like a real dump (we stayed there 2 years ago and it was on it's way...).

I'm glad you were able to get your slotplay coupon redeemed at Palms. Wonder if security could review the tapes and ID the douchebag who took your envelope.

Thanks for sharing!!

This is my kind of trip! Play however long you wish and getting 2 royals to boot plus mega points! I love it!
