VP Progressive & Comp Quest 2012 @ The Orleans Day 4

DAY 4

After getting to bed at 6:00 I wake back up at 8:00 am. Roll over and try to go back to sleep, but have the reservations on my mind. I really need to run down and talk to the host to see if they could extend our stay. So I get up, take a shower and head down to the talk to my host. I stop by Java Vegas and check my email and jot down a few notes.

It's now about 9:00 so the hosts lounge is now open. Run over, poke my head in and see that today was her day off. The other host on duty is actually the original host that had spoke to before we left, but was busy when I arrived. I told her that we had been comped the first three nights and were scheduled to check out and head to The Flamingo. Of course, I'd much rather stay and play here for next two nights if possible. She promptly pulls up our account as sees our marathon play and points accumulation. "Oh you guys play for very long periods.....we like that! No problem on the next two nights. Your room and food have been taken care off." SCORE!

I start to run back up to the room to tell Karen the good news, but then remember that she MUST have her sleep. So I start hopping around the casino playing different games that I hadn't played in a while. Tried a couple of quarter triple plays, a nickel super times play and a few others. After about an hour and finally spending the $20 that I had started with I give up and head back to our triple play nickels.

The progressive now is closing in on $4,000. I get up to the bank and there sits Maria. This 76 year old is a trooper .....she'd been there over 14 hours. I plop down beside her and put in a $20 for the next hour or so we sit chatting about everything from schools to retirement.....didn't play much, but really enjoyed the chat. Just as I was getting ready to head back up and retired gentleman sat down beside us and struck up a conversation. Once again I found myself thoroughly engaged in chat. After about another hour, I looked at my phone and realized it was after noon. I needed to head up and check on the Mrs.

Get up to the room and see that Mrs. M is up and around and ready to go. I informed her of the good news that our room and food had been comped for the rest of the week so we didn't need to check out. Thank goodness!

Originally we thought that we'd be at The Flamingo and had the Harrah's buffet on the schedule with the 2 for 1 coupon. Since we are we'll come up with plan B. Since today was earn 300 points and eat free why not do the buffet one last time? So that was the game plan.....afterward we realized that we should of probably ate at one of the nicer place at The Orleans since it would be comped.....I guess I'm so used to thinking like a low roller it did occur to me. Oh well, the buffet is just fine for me.

Once again today is gift day. Play 100 points, swipe your card and win....drum roll please........a weather vane. YES! I had already played well more than my 100 points so I swipe and go to pickup my gift while Karen plays her 300 points for her free buffet.

More free gifts to clutter our home with.

After we eat our plan is to head to The Flamingo to 1) check out of our room that we never used and 2) Put 25 pts on our HET Total Reward cards to get credit in the Great Race to Rewards. For those that don't know what that is there is a thread on the Caesars board. We check out, and put 25 pts on our cards foolishly on some slots. We figured that we'd have to put either $125 through the slots or $250 through crappy VP games to qualify.....we opted with the slots.

Once we finished that we decided to head back to our room and nap for a few hours before our evening at Ellis Island and the strip.

Wake up and head over to Ellis Island for our first of two evening diners. Tonight it will be BBQ, tomorrow our annual steak night. Since it was slow we figured we'd activate our play $10 get $10 FP before we ate. We checked in to the BBQ joint. They gave us our number and said that it was an hour and 10 minutes....No Way...there was hardly anyone there.

We sat down, put $10 in a couple of nickel VP machines and played for about 20 mintues.....when we hear our number....that's exactly what I thought. Cashed out even and headed to eat some great BBQ.

Mrs. M and myself both go for the Full Rack for $13.99 with the 2 for 1. Outstanding!!!
As I said earlier, I ran a BBQ business for 10 years and am very picky....Ellis Island ribs were fantastic and for $14!
5 forks

After our meal we head to the strip to walk around and see the sights. Decide to park at Bill's and walk form there.
Typical evening on the strip with street characters, porn slappers and everything in between.

We did stop to watch a street performance in front of Bally's. We saw a crowd starting to gather so we head over to see what was up. Once we get there we recognized who it was. It was Turf from Americas Got Talent....cool. We sat and watched his amazing performance. If you haven't seen this guy google him and watch his videos on youtube. This guys is making some serious cash doing these little mini shows each night. His little five minute show drew in 30-40 people whom most gave tips...do the math hourly on that one. Good for him!

Turf and myself on the strip.

After walking all the way form Bill's to MGM and back our feet were screaming. It was now after midnight and we were both ready for bed. First time all week we didn't stop to gamble before bed. Checked out the progressives which were well over $4200, but they'll have to wait.
Figured we'd get plenty of sleep tonight in prep for our final day tomorrow.

Very nice! Thanks again for reporting and the photos! You just never know who or what you'll see or what may happen at any time. You always have to hope that a progressive jackpot hasn't already been hit before you get back there.

I myself don't tend to chase after too many progressives because for me it can get too volatile but I have on occasion chased after one.

I love your reports. I keep hoping you hit that huge progressive!!!!! Looking forward to your final day's report. And way to go on getting all the days and meals comped at the Orleans!!!!
Love your trip reports and you remind me of us at The Orleans. We really like that place. Had to laugh about singing the 80's songs when it's late and you are trying to stay awake to chase a royal. I do that too! I am waiting to see if you hit the big royal. I have had plenty of trips where we chase one the whole trip, so I know what you are feeling.

Good luck--can't wait to see how it all turns out.

Nice pictures. Nice style with the TR.
I'm enjoying your report so far. I did a lot of that late night stuff last trip. I don't sleep that well in Vegas, but sometimes it does catch up and every now and then I crash! That's great that the hosts are treating you so well. Nice that they appreciate the long hours of play regardless of denom. Shame on CET, and their bad pay scales!

We didn't get to the Coast properties the last trip, and we should have for their Senior days especially. We just had so many places to go and a lot of group things. It's fun to chase promos, but takes a lot of scheduling. We did do pretty well.

I hope Maria did well after all those hours of play. I thought I was bad, but she has outplayed my longest play. Bless her, I wish the best for her.

I'm looking forward to your final day! Hope it's a good one! Thanks for taking us with you!

Yes, we made sure to stop by and tell Maria good-bye and good luck. She was such a sweet lady....I hope she hit the dealt prgressive this week after we left....She had hit 3 of the smaller progressive royals while we were there so I was happy for her.
Like!
I love that you are so protective of your wife getting her sleep!
