Gail, I certainly did listen to radio during my teen years, which was about all we had back then, other than 45's on the record player.
I'm sorry to say that I don't remember BEAKER STREET. Was that a song or a show? I can't believe you could get a LR station way up in Minnesota!

Also, I see you are from the Little Rock area, which reminded me of growing up and listening to BEAKER STREET on a radio station out of Little Rock! Pretty good (and somewhat far out!) stuff for my sister and I listening from our shared bedroom in South Central Minnesota, as we were both huge music lovers!! As I recall it came on later in the evening. Did you listen? Gail

Candy, Beaker Street was a program that came on late at night - 10:00 or maybe even later. Checking Wikipedia they call it the first underground music program broadcast regularly on a commercial radio station and it ran from 1966 till 1972. Clyde Clifford was the "laid-back" announcer. I can't tell you how it is that this program came in so clearly late at night in MN, but it was fun listening! I just realized that on You Tube there's quite a few things about it, including the final program broadcast. It also states that the 50,000 watt station could be heard in much of the US! It was quite interesting! Check it out on You Tube!
