115,000 Deposits on the Model 3 in first day.

The time stamp on my end said 2:22am EST. If you are in Vegas then it was 11:22pm, or if you were in NY & for some reason my computer was showing 2:22am Vegas time then it was 5:22am on Sunday am.

In all 3 cases it shows a sad life that this is what you are doing at those times of the day

I was up too, can't sleep sometimes. I figure I may as well get up for a bit, better than tossing and turning.

I had just come in after making my rounds on a Saturday night. Clubs close at 4AM in NY. I was waiting for my dog to finish doing what it is he does when I let him out after being in all night and I turned on my computer.
Sorry my career choice doesn't meet your approval. Perhaps in my next life, I can be tucked in by 10PM like a good little boy. It's 12:50 right now and I'm about to eat breakfast after sleeping until the crack of noon. Gov. Kasich is in town, and while I have a ticket for his appearance tonite, he is giving a speech at Hofstra University that I might swing by if its not too crazy.
Its very rare for NY to have contested primaries. They usually are held in June, the week before California and the race is decided by then.
Both Trump and President Clinton will be here tomorrow. Not many television ads, though. Its just too expensive .

By the way - you know what I find sad- Judging people by the hours they keep. Especially when one doesn't even know what those hours are.
Billy has his panties in a wad because of a time zone issue. How funny.

My dog doesn't get the whole time zone thing either.

So back to the Tesla deposit....Do you get any guarantees for that? Like is your price locked in? Do you know what the features will be? Is the availability date guaranteed? Is the deposit refundable?

Kind of, no, no, no, yes, at any time.

What you get is a number, a place in line. Say you are number 5,000. A few weeks or perhaps months before they will build car 5,000 you are asked a few questions. and given a few package options. Everything comes in a package. No ala carte ordering. If you want a particular color, you might wait longer if it a popular color, or you might get it sooner if its not a popular choice. The date is not guaranteed, but if you have reservation 5,000 you'll get the car around when that number are done. You can cancel at any time, and you can sell your deposit to someone under some circumstances. With the S, you could trade places in line with someone but couldn't outright sell your space to someone else. There are ways around that, obviously.

According to Consumer Reports the Tesla X has many problems.
The X has been problematic from the get go. On the bright side, almost all of them are unique to the X model. Gull wings are kool, but there is a reason why no one else mass produces them.
I bought a new model S in 2013. I picked it up in San Jose and drove it down to Newport Beach. Since I was only planning to drive around town and I have the home charger I didn't purchase the supercharger package. That was going to make the trip down a multi day affair. The nice folks I took delivery from gave me the supercharger package for the trip. Turns out that it is just a program change in the computer, they would change it back in 2 days remotely. they didn't even need the car in person. I ended up keeping the supercharger when I found out how nice the car is on trips.

On the trip down from San Jose I was getting used to the car, playing around, going fast, not really paying attention to the charge since I had my stops for charge planned out. Looked at the display and WHOA! Pulled over and looked for the nearest charging station on the cars huge computer display. Found the closest, drove with an eye on the usage and coasted into the station on the last electrons. It took a little less than an hour for a full charge. I never did that again.

Shortly after buying the car I drove from Newport to Vegas. There is a supercharge station in Barstow. Stopped for lunch, plugged in and it was fully charged by the time I finished.
In Vegas there is a free charger (10Kw, takes forever) in a city parking garage on Main street a couple blocks down from Fremont street. Parking is free if you're in an electric car.
