We went from a project that was going to create 1,200 permanent jobs plus the construction jobs to no jobs.
The developer was going scheduled to get $50 million is subsidies and tax breaks, courtesy of New York City taxpayers. That's a lot of free shit, isn't it?

California’s law, which is expected to benefit millions of workers, will raise the base wage over the next six years, reaching $15 an hour by 2022.

This is a great issue for Democrats in an election year. All they have to do is ask at every rally, “Do you think you are worth less than someone living in California or New York? Do those liberals outwork you?” It will help the down ticket.

How about worth more than one of these?

A restaurant owner making over $100K who sees his income cut in half because of the new law will just close and take a job as a manager for a large chain. Just think how hard it's going to be to fill those $15 an hour jobs from the not so great job pool in San Bernardino and Stockton. Sometimes I think there are no words to describe how stupid most liberals are.

I believe small business like that are exempt.

I thought it was 10 employees or less?

Some restaurants are trying to get out in front of this. Kiosk tablets at Applebee's and Chili's. Even some Friendly's. I told the waiter when he was showing me how to use it that it was going to eventually replace him. He argued that it was for convenience of customers and his job wasn't going to change. Sure. Do these folks think they are going to get the 20% tip from me when they are nothing more than a server? If I don't get the full waiter/waitress experience they're not getting a full tip. At Buffets in Vegas I typically leave $5 at table for the wife and myself. I'll leave a similar tip if I order from the tablet, ask for refills from the tablet and pay on the tablet. These restaurants should be able to reduce head count and keep pricing in-line with this technology.

We've encountered those at both pizzeriauno and olive garden (which totally sucks btw), the little check out tablets that is. Still had a personal waiter, but I could definitely see how the tablet will eventually replace waiters as well. The only thing needed is the people to bring the food out to you.

So there is a huge disincentive as the cost to expand the business beyond 10 employees would be huge

Nah...It's more like "If you like your job at $10.00 an hour, you can keep your job at $15.00 an hour."
So you're saying that after very minor disruptions, those who are screaming about job losses due to higher minimum wages, just as they did with Obamacare, will be shown to be hysterical ninnies?

I couldn't agree more.

Yeah, he totally blew that one:

And jatki, an armed Republican National Convention is a polite Republican National Convention.
Forky is changing the subject again.
At $15 per hour, a person could afford a fork to eat pizza.
