Why is it inaccurate? Do you think people attending school should be counted? People like myself who intentionally left the work force? People who took early retirement? Shall I go on?

Figures lie and liars figure. But let me ask a simple question....how do we explain the lowest labor participation rate in several decades? I'm reasonably sure all those folks haven't gone back to school.

The bigger question is... what's lvfritz and hoops going to change the topic to when the labor force participation rate is insignificantly changed a year from now? All the bullshit metrics used to slam Obama will suddenly become irrelevant under Trump. I know how these clowns operate.

Actually the BIGGER question really is; just where does PJ get all of his information about the impending gloom and doom that will transpire when Trump takes office? All I read from PJ is negative, negative, negative. Trump has not even been sworn in and already PJ, and those of his ilk, seem to know what will happen. I have a suggestion, PJ get in touch with your Daddy Obeyme - he apparently has all of the answers and maybe he will warm up a bottle of milk for you.

Ordinarily, I am quite careful about insulting people here or name calling. But I must admit that PJ has been doing a lot of that lately. It's awfully easy to insult folks from behind your keyboard. If you need a pet or coloring book PJ, just let us all know and we'll figure something out for you. But the liberal playbook of insulting people when you can't carry on a conversation is getting pretty old.

For the last twenty years economists have been warning how the Social Security fund will be in trouble as Baby Boomers reach retirement age and the newer generations will be so much smaller. President Reagan warned of it when he instituted some of the biggest changes to the system. Now it happens and it's all Obama's fault.

Because there's millions of unskilled workers who wish to work, but can't find a job, and are no longer counted as unemployed..............yet they are unemployed. The neverending influx of unskilled Labor streaming across our Southern border is much of the cause of this. That, and an unfriendly American business climate created by Obama and friends.

Certainly neither party has had the balls to address illegal immigration, and the Republicans have only done a marginally better job in creating a friendly business environment. If Trump builds a wall, and he gets the Federal government out of the way, the economy will prosper. At that point, the American workforce will stop shrinking, and then begin to grow again.

It's a flawed statistic. There should be a separate stat for 'Discouraged Workers who have given up their job search'. Some early retirees fit that category. Some people who have gone on disability insurance do too....but just reporting Labor Participation is meaningless because there are so many reasons for it.
