$20 Resort fee at Golden Gate and The D

I have no other choice but to pay that irritating $20 resort fee at the Golden Gate for my stay coming up in October because I wish to stay at downtown and even with the dreaded resort fee that was the best rate I could find at about $45 in total per night. These were some of the other rates that I came across for downtown during my stay;

1) 4 Queens was about $50 a night but no resort fee
2) The Cal was $100 per night but no resort fee
3) MSS same as the Cal
4) Fremont same as the Cal
5) Plaza was $50 a night plus a $10 resort fee
It's ridiculous isn't it? I'm staying there with comped rooms in a couple of weeks but my friend has to pay, probably with the resort fee on top. It's pretty easy to get comped rooms, free slot, hotel and food credits at the Golden Gate, so maybe in the future they will look after you.

Why are the Cal and MSS so high? Are these weekend nights? If not, someone's having a big meeting.

Good question joespoolhall. The $100 a night rate at the Cal is not even for a weekend rate, it is for Sunday night. I think it is because the University of Hawaii warriors football vs UNLV on October 12. The Cal has a huge clientele consisting of people from Hawaii and I'm guessing that the die-hard warrior football fans will be there at that time. Also, the rooms for that Saturday night on game day is sold out according to their website reservations page.
