2012 CET Great Race to Rewards

I found a thread on trip advisor stating that the CET Great Race to Rewards is back again this year. Details below-

Race starts again July 1st – Oct 1st. There have been some changes over last year and it is a little more complicated

Changes include:

Must earn 25 or more tier credits at each destination in one gaming day.

Gaming days vary by property. Windsor’s is 4 am – 3:59 am; most other properties are 6 am – 5:59 am.

Each destination has a value of 1 – 3 Check Points (18 total destinations)

Vegas & Laughlin count as 1 destination with a 3 check point value

Tunica counts as 1 destination with a 3 point value

Atlantic City counts as 1 destination with a 2 point value

Louisiana Downs & Bossier City are 1 destination with a 2 point value

Joliet and Hammond are 1 destination with a 2 point value

Council Bluffs is 1 destination worth 2 points

Ak-Chin & Rincon are 1 destination worth 2 points

Single properties worth 2 points each are:

Chester, PA; Windsor,ON; Biloxi; Metropolis, IL; North Kansas City; New Orleans; Southern Indiana; Cleveland, OH;

Lake Tahoe & Reno are 1 destination worth 1 point

St Louis and Cherokee are each worth 1 point

Receive the reward credit awards based on the total check points earned by the end of the promotion:

– 6 CheckPoints earned = 10,000 RCs
– 8 CheckPoints earned = 25,000 RCs
– 11 CheckPoints earned = 50,000 RCs
- 15 CheckPoints earned = 75,000 RCs
I wish this started 1 week earlier. I'm going through KC and Council Bluffs this weekend and I live in St Louis, would have been easy to knock those out and gave me an excuse to go to Vegas. It looks like they did a pretty good job of closing some loopholes from last year. 25 credits and combining Vegas/Laughlin would have hurt me last year.
I wish it started a week earlier and lasted a month longer. I am going to New Orleans next week and Vegas at the end of October, and there probably would have been a Tunica trip in there somewhere. That would have been 8 points
Well, I should be guaranteed 0 points again this year. :-)

So what do these points actually give you? Seems like a lot of work for a few points!
Bags- The difficult part is getting to the different casinos. They only require you to earn 25 points on your card at each location. 10,000 points is $100 so if you get to the 75,000 you get $750 in comps on your card. This is especially a good deal for married couples if they both check-in at these locations since they could earn up to a combined $1500 in comps.

Just an FYI on the new game for Harrah's St Louis, you can just swipe card at promotional kiosk near Total Rewards booth inside casino. No ID required. I just went this morning to check it out, unfortunately St Louis is only worth 1 point.
Seems ridiculous that they only give you one point for two cities. If you're taking the time and effort to travel to different cities, each should count as a destination. Even though Vegas and Laughlin are fairly close, it's still a 90 mile..1.5 hours at a fast pace...to get there. Even Reno-Tahoe isn't a walk around the block.
Horesrus...are you in STL? What do you think about Harrahs leaving?

We were able to get $1200 last year so we are still using that...it's nice to get free meals. The only problem with adding to that total is we can't use the dollars in STL after the sell of the casino.

We really like River City but, it is a pretty long trip for us as we live in Maryland Heights.

Drop me a line if you might want to team up on this race.

I'm disappointed that they're leaving St Louis even though I don't go that often. I'm still burning through the points I earned in the contest last year that we've been using on family meals. It will be interesting to see what Penn National does with the property. I've been to River City a couple times, but being able to earn points at Harrahs here and around the country to use in Vegas is a marketing strategy that works on me and Harrah's St Louis has 9/6 jacks (albeit in the smoking area) so I don't usually play anywhere else in town.

I haven't decided if I'm going to attack the promotion this year. I don't have a trip planned to Vegas this year, but I could take in Tunica and Metropolis which would be an additional 5 points onto my 1 for St Louis plus there is the possibility of swapping. $750 in comps for my wife and I would come in handy for my daughter's 21st birthday trip in two years. Of course I'd have to earn points every 6 months without a local Harrah's but that can be managed.
