2012 MRB

Not sure that I have made money using the LVA every year using the strict interpretation of return on investment with coupons.

However, the membership has been invaluable to me. I have made really good friends. And I have benefitted far more than a silly match play through knowledge on the paid side. I learned about the best lunch in Vegas, Rosemary's (RIP) ... That I could upgrade to a spa suite at Monte Carlo for $50 at check in. ... That Valentino's sucks. ... When tickets went on sale for Phantom so I could buy prime seats. ... That Isla exceeds Diego in quality. ... That there are hidden gems in casinos where you can be comped glasses of wine from bottles that retail at $50 and sell for $90 in restaurants. ... That none of the Pirate or Siren shows are worth adjusting my schedule. ... That Ellis Island is worth a pit stop. ... That Wild West casino and restaurant is not. ... That I can be comped microbrews while playing table games at Main Street Station. ... That Rush Tower offers downtown's best rooms. ... That the clam chowder at any Stations casino is a pleasant surprise. ... That Venetian has the most generous comped drinks policy of any sports book. ... I could go on, but you get the idea.

No one familiar with the variance of slot machines would make this remark. $10 FSP <> $10 cash, obviously!!!

First of all I am not "bitching" but trying to contribute to the discussion. I will buy the membership again as it does return at least my investment and then some.

I do think the LVA is a wonderful site and look forward to the newsletter every month.

However it is the MRB that makes me return every year. I also thought that Casino Player is a wonderful magazine and subscribed to it for a number of years. However, since they do not have their funbook anymore I haven't subscribed in a few years - there is so much info out there that I just don't have the time or money to subscribe to them when with the LVA I get the MRB as well.

As long as the EV of the book exceeds the cost I will probably continue to subscribe. Maybe when it comes to shows this could be one of the "best" MRB's ever, however in the gambling category it is not even close, not even in the ballpark.

Of course I am the first to know that if something is too good to be true it probably won't last, so thanks to Anthony Curtis for at least keeping the book going, even if it is not as good as in the past. At least it is still there, unlike the Casino Perks and Casino Player Funbooks. Well, I do think the Casino Perks is still there for buffets too but it is NOT worth the investment in my opinion.

I think the book is just fine as it is. However before people jump to conclusions about this years MRB maybe there is more to come.

They are beta testing a new coupon page so maybe we will get more coupons after all.

We definitely got our moneys worth on our last trip. Food is where we made out, didn't make jack on the gambling coupons but then again i never expected to make anything on those anyway. I renewed for another year because i wanted to remain amember,i don't even think i'll be back in vegas next year but i dont subscribe for the book just for the membership.

The coupon book has decreased in value each year, but so has the value of these boards. I don't find them nearly as informative or helpful as they were around 2002-2005. Much too much bickering. It used to be a no brainer to re-up, but it gets less and less each tear. The Flame coupon and $10 freeplay at two casinos may be the only ones I use this year. I was hoping for another Terribles coupon for slot losses but it evidently is not to be. I'll re-up this year, but not with any great enthusiasm.
The Terrible's online coupon was awesome ...except they cancelled it right before my trip. Bummer !
I still like the book and I manage to get my money's worth each year. Lets see what the online coupies look like this year. Merry Christmas everyone !
