2013 Emmy nominations

Just some random thoughts after looking over this year's Emmy nominations list (NB-I live in So. California so the Emmys constitute headline news here):

1. "The Walking Dead" has been robbed yet again of any serious Emmy consideration
2. I should have watched "American Horror Story" past the first episode to see what the hoopla was all about
3. Kudos to recognizing some other great actors in "Game of Thrones" besides the redoubtable Peter Dinklage
4. If Michael Douglas doesn't win Best Actor as Liberace, something's fixed
Michael Douglas was very good as Liberace.
Netflix's 'House Of Cards' .... wow!
As an old-school NOTLD zombie fan, I enjoy The Walking Dead, and rejoice in the fact that a genre once vilified has become mainstream. Having said that, however, I must confess that with the notable exception of Lennie James' standout performance in one episode of Season Three... I've never seen anything in the show I would consider Emmy-worthy. That's only my opinion, of course, but the non-walker scenes are written at such a stupefyingly contentious and melodramatic pitch that I swear I can see the befuddlement on the faces of the actors... as if even they can't keep up with who is pissed off and why.

But, it entertains me... and I like zombies. (They regained major respect from me last season with the inclusion of riot-gear walkers. That was choice.)

I also only watched one episode of American Horror Story. My initial reaction being, "I'm glad this isn't mandatory."
