2015 Oscar nominations

Just saw Birdman the other day. That was one weird movie.
Have you seen it yet??

I love Michael Keaton and I thrilled to see him in something again...and I think he did an awesome job...but really, really odd movie..lol.

2014 was a really lousy year for movies. I couldn;t even name one movie I saw that was worthy of a "Best Picture" nomination. Maybe "Wild" with Reese Witherspoon - but even that would fall short with competition from previous years. I'd say the same for "Imitation Game".

Still haven't seen "Selma" or "American Sniper".
Movies rarely live up to the hype.
The only "Best Picture" nominees which poor old DonDiego has seen are Interstellar, in a theater on Galveston Island, and The Grand Budapest Hotel, at home on TV a few nights ago.

He liked Interstellar more than he had expected.
He thought The Grand Budapest Hotel was fun; he knew nothing about it, and that pr'bly made it seem a bit brighter than otherwise.

DonDiego concurs that none of the nominees strike him as outstanding compared to most years' selections. He still intends to see The Imitation Game and American Sniper before they're out of the theaters.

Never heard of Birdman but the trailer looked very interesting to me.
The Imitation Game could have been so much better. The Poles played a key role and were virtually ignnored in the move. How the English got a hold of those machines & the effort required in breaking the code is a great story.

Hugh Alexander wsa portrayed as a buffoon, but was actually a key member of the team
I respectfully disagree with PJ and DD about this year's nominations. Boyhood and The Grand Budapest Hotel were top-notch films - completely different in style but both were solidly directed with excellent acting. Disclaimer: My youngest son was an extra in one scene of Boyhood, and he also found a bootlegged copy(with Japanese subtitles) for a terminal cancer patient in California...
Wait a minute, . . . DonDiego just noticed something missing !

Where's The Lego Movie. It was awesome.
