I'm not trying to stir the pot, but maybe it is the BEST time to ask after winning $1,500.00. If you lost $200 and ask for a comp, the casino doesn't care because they have your money and maybe you will come back another time and maybe not. However, if you won $1,500.00, they know you have money to spend and they would love to have you back to win some (or all of it) back.
