50th birthday at The Orleans

50th Birthday at Orleans
I decided to spend my 50th birthday in Las Vegas with my 3 brothers and no wives or significant others. We stayed at the Orleans as I have stayed here many times, it is affordable for everyone and I have a casino host who helps me with the planning of my trips. I also was surprised when I arrived to my room and found a candy basket, cheese and fruit platter and champagne waiting for me. It is great to have a host.

We arrived on Halloween but there were not many people dressed up in costumes. One of my brothers hit (9) 4-of-a-kinds the first night and was up over $400. The rest of us did not do as well but did not lose too badly.

After breakfast, I played 3 hours of black jack and made $250. I usually play about $25 a hand. The dealers at the Orleans are some of the kindest dealers in town. They make everyone who sits down at the table feel welcome. We used the pool area as it was still in the 80s during the day and then went to Freemont Street at night. . We ate dinner at the Prime Rib Loft. It is a great meal and the Prime Rib was cooked perfectly rare. Dinner for the 4 of us came to a little of over $100.
2 of my brothers had never been to Las Vegas so Freemont Street was a must see. There were all sorts of characters trying to get you to take a picture with them but we were not interested. We headed back to the Orleans around 11pm and stayed up until 3 while playing video poker at the bar. No big winner this night. I did win $90 on a Rolling Stones slot machine but I could only play it for about 30 minutes before you get tired of hearing the same song over and over again. You do have a choice of 3 songs but it still gets tiring.
On Sunday, I played my morning black jack and made another $200 for 2 ½ hours play. We then sat in the sports book area and watched football, shared popcorn and beers and caught up on family news for about 5 hours. We ate at Big Al’s Oyster Bar and the meals were delicious. The seafood and pasta dishes were huge. At night we tried again to hit the video poker games but we were all losers for the night.
On Monday we walked the strip and gathered souvenirs for people back home and checked out the Bellagio observatory. Around 4pm my brothers wanted to experience a Las Vegas buffet. I brought them to the M Resort as it is above average and only $23 for dinner. After dinner my brothers used the $10 free play for signing up for new cards and 2 of them made it last 4 hours while playing nickel video poker. I did hit 4 ACES while playing Double Bonus for $200 so everyone left happy.
Tuesday we grabbed a filling breakfast at the Egg and I on Flamingo. This is one of my favorite stops in town. We said our goodbye and headed home. It was an enjoyable trip for everyone.
Happy 50th Birthday and thanks for the report. Smart move to not gamble much on the strip. Sounds like the Orleans and the M treated you well.

Four years ago I too celebrated my 50th at the Orleans and we had dinner at the Prime Rib Loft.
Sounds like a great trip.

The Orleans is my home base when in Vegas. Love the place.

Thanks for taking the time to write and share.
