Well, its been 6 months sice getting home from the hospital and, hopefully,I'll be in vegas in 6 mths(OCT). Its' booked, just a matter if I'll be able to do it physically. Also have that pesky dialysis thing, but that shouldn't be too big of a deal.
Wow,hard to believe. Living in the hospital seems like such a long time ago when in reality,6 months isnt thet much. When I came home(nov3),i was about 94lbs,i think. My blood levels weren't very good and my heart was still in the borderline failure stage, and my liver levels wern't very good either.
Fast forward to today. All my blood work is fantastic, liver is working as it should(surprising the amt of meds i had to take and am on,and my heart is as good as it ever can be. It was pretty permanently damaged due to the acuteness of how sick i got(killed my kidneys, but not my heart). Its pumping 45-50%range,normal is 60%.so not too bad.
Anyhoo, Yesterday was way cool. Had to go back to the hospital for something routine. As usual,we always go visit all the people who took care of me on 4H and 3E(burn ICU and IC).It is always so cool to see all these people as its such a different feeling obviously. As we stood there and chatted with them,it was such a cool feeling seeing the obvious pride and happiness seeing me and how great i looked to them.It was definitely a feeling of a job "well done". I was walking proof, they did their job and they were proud and happy. Coupla tears were shed this visit.
When we went down to 3E,one of my 3 main drs (hadn't seen him since i've been out)started to walk by. He didn't recognize me at all. We talked for a couple minutes, and he just couldn't beleive it was me. As we parted he said"you know,we fought for ya 100%,but I was bettin' against ya"(in a light-hearted way,but i got it). He was not the only dr who bet against me.
This was also a great day as I didnt use the wheelchair at all during all the walking around WHC and was not winded at all. Only issue was my feet hurt like hell from neuropathy, but i haven't taken any oxy for that either. Trying to live with that best i can.
NOTE:while on 4h,it was brought up that we had vegas booked for oct. Subject of my feet/walking was still in play. Was funny when she said'well, everything's pretty close, you shouldn't have much trouble" LOL.
Hopefully I'll be able to walk vegas and not use a wheelchair or scooter. I hate having to being pushed around in a wheelchair. I also cant stand using the handicap parking, but, sometimes,I just gotta.
Over and out,JOHN
