7 Stents In My Heart!

After 3 days of nt being able to breathe, I was rushed to the hospital. The next day I was scheduled for an angiagram. 15 people were working on me, and they finally put a mask on me that forced air into my lungs. Talk about scary. We were supposed to go to Vegas after a few days, but I would wind up in the hospital for 8 days. They wanted to do open heart surgery, but I said "no way"! It would put me out of commission for 10-12 weeks.I opted for stents. They put in two stents in the arteries that were 70% clogged. A few days later they did the major clog that was 90% clogged. They needed 5 stents to unclog that baby. At the same time, Faye was also admitted and was one floor above me. So much for Vegas!

Looks like we might get there in another week and a half! But who knows!
Very scary. Glad they got to you just in time, Giant.
Best wishes buddy
OMG!! Would you believe, one our church members has 12 stents, still having issues. He also has resisted open heart surgery so far.

Hey, BAGIANT, I don't want to be a party pooper, but you might not want to stray too far from home for a little while after all you've been through. I'm guessing they've started you on blood thinners, etc., and it wouldn't be good to have complications away from your medical team. I'm glad you pulled through.

Next time you can't breathe, get thee to the hospital STAT!

My Mother was rushed to the hospital under similar circumstances twice. The first time, she had open heart surgery and after a week in the hospital and about a month of recovery, she was able to resume close to normalcy.
The second time, we weren't as lucky.
Take care and take advantage of this second chance.
Vaya con Dios, and enjoy every sandwich.
Time to reassess - stents are not a permanent solution. Getting heart surgery might require a lot more recovery time, but being alive (to me) is better than just utilizing a stop gap procedure. Quit screwing around with your life.
Prayers to your speedy recovery Bagiant. BTW are you still seeing Shar/Star?
Prayers for a full recovery. I don't know your age or prior lifestyle. But will offer my family experiences.

My MIL, at the time a pretty healthy and active 70 year old, was actually visiting me in vegas and was on her last two days of a three week visit. We had of course, ran and ran and ate and ate, but she had always kept up with me and mall walked 3 days a week and engaged in very active social life. I was awoken to her violently vomiting at 2am, she had complained earlier that her soup was too rich and causing bloating and heart burn and was "sitting on her stomach". We just thought she maybe had food poisoning or dinner didn't agree. We called the nurse hotline, but she refused to go to er. Back home, she went to dr next day and he said she needed stents. She had had a minor heart attack. She waited a few weeks to get that scheduled and was then back to normal for another 3 year or so. Finally last year at 75, she had a doctor appointment and they couldn't redo the stents and had to do a bypass. She remained health'ish, but did slow down a bit after these episodes. I would still call her a "healthy" person for her age and lifestyle. You would not know she had medical issues.

An extreme case though is a man from my church that I've known all my life and he was diagnosed at 21 with a severe heart condition. I don't know all his details, but his newborn daughter at that time, also had a hole in her heart and they both had many surgeries. He over the last 30 years has had dozens of heart attacks and stents and bypasses more time than countable. He has worked out religiously due to his health and is also "healthy" to the appearance. At Christmas, they told him they could no longer do stents due to scar tissue and would just wait for him to have a heart attack and hope he made it through. Even before all this he was the most gorgeous singer at church you've ever heard. Heaven sent. he finally produced a cd and it is doesn't leave my car CD player.

I thought I'd share that a full recovery is capable and that every few years to be aware of relapses. Take care of yourself and make the healthiest choices possible. Good luck with your recovery and take it easy. Sometimes we we forced to slow down a bit even when we want to live it up In vegas!

Poor old DonDiego has a hangnail, . . . if anybody cares.

I agree, stay closer to home for a little while longer.
