7th annual Weenie Dog Football Challenge

Thursday night kickoff is 30 minutes away so I will be quick with this pick. I am taking the over-48 1/2 points in tonight's matchup between New Orleans and Carolina. The Saints got their offense rolling last week and they should force a fast pace tonight, win or lose.

OK I am officially done with the over bets this year. I suck at those.

I should have stuck to my first inclination of the Jets plus 9 1/2 points. But someone spiked my water bowl with Left Coast Hop Juice with a 9% ABV and I decided at the last minute let's make Thursday night fun by taking the over. It was the alcohol speaking.

Still, come on Carolina. A mere 10 points at home against the NFL's 28th defense? Sheesh!

I remember when lots of folks were talking about the "new" type of NFL quarterback, Cam Newton and RG III were at the top of this list. Run first QB's are very exiting..........until they become physically and eventually mentally broken. Those guys are "wired" to run first, and this is unfortunately impossible to coach out of them. Colin Kaepernick and Andrew Luck run, but they are have a pass first mentality.

Sorry Washington and Carolina.

Well...now that brother blackjack got his loss for this week out of the way...it opens the door, so I can move ahead some more, in the standings.

This week I am going to take the San Diego Chargers plus 2.5 points over the Miami Dolphins.

I saw the Dolphins game last week, and they really looked bad on the offense. Tannehill had 54 yards on 4 for 8 passing in the first half...it was horrible. They were lucky that the defense stepped up and scored two touchdowns and secured the victory.

This week versus the Bolts, its going to be much harder. Bolts are eyeing a play off spot, and need this win more then you know.

This should be an easy out right win, for the Chargers! Take that to the bank.

I am jumping out of my dog bed this morning and getting this pick in early, so folks can get down there and bet it, in time.

This week I am taking a Thursday night football matchup for the first time this year.

I really like the Cincinnati Bengals -6.5 points over the Cleveland Browns.

The Browns are still having QB issues, but the Bengals, despite starting the season good, and then farting out a few horrible losses, seem to be back on the winning track.

RB Bernard, and WR's Sanu and Green, will be having a field day tonight. The score will be huge!

Somebody laid a big dump in the middle of the floor.

Brother Roscoe's stinker of a pick has left me an opening to tie for the lead. And I am going to seize the opportunity.

I am taking the Detroit Lions minus-2 1/2 points over the Miami Dolphins on Sunday. It's true the Dolphins have been playing good defense. But the Lions' defense is even better. Ryan Tannehill will be crying for his mama. Plus the game is at the Motor City.

It's Detroit winning and beating the chintzy 2 1/2-point spread. I will be eating a nice bone Sunday afternoon!
