What a completely shameful commercial they aired last night encouraging people to illegally enter the US and trying to shame the viewers into feeling guilty. How about some company airing an ad showing they poor and starving kids who are already here or how about the homeless vets living on the streets? If someone wants to guilt the people into action, show an ad like that.

I know I'll never buy so much as a nail from them ever again and yes, I did send them a email (and I never do that), but that commercial was flat out wrong.

Wow - getting your panties in a wad over a beautifully filmed commercial. You poor little snowflake....

I could care less if it was shittilly filmed, the point was it encouraged people to come to the US ILLEGALLY, saying it was ok to do so and to call me a snowflake, PFFFT!! Hardly. While I dig my pups, I hardly need them for therapy, that's your alls' gig.

BTW I don't wear panties but lend me a pair of yours and Ill see if I can wad 'em up for your benfit.
How?

You mean companys should put any ol' thing they want in their ads, even it's encouraging breaking the law? How about encouraging some shoplifting? Oooo, better yet, how about the begiinings of a riot, ya know, show some lootimg, catching a few cars on fire, maybe even some window smashing? Yea lets encourage even more laws to be broken, the environment is certainly ripe for it, lotsa civil discourse coming from all the snowflakes who got butthurt 'cause they don't like who got elected. BOO-F'n-HOO.

You're right PJ, ads are free speech, let 'em encourage all kinds of illegal actions,...TURN 'EM LOOSE!
The full video is almost six minutes. No way this ever was going to be run during the Super Bowl at the rates they charge. The ad, as shown, was confusing. The video , as seen on the web, was brilliant in my opinion.
The tag line was great. Both for a company seeking labor and for what I hope would be a national motto.
THE WILL TO SUCCEED WILL ALWAYS BE WELCOME HERE.

Donde seems to have overlooked people.com rating the commercial as one of the most effective ads in recent SB history. Why aren't I surprised.

According to billy, companies that measure ads for a living don't count, but a Time Inc (company hates President Trump) website does.

Hate to disappoint the billy boy liberals, people are not against immigration, but ILLEGAL immigration & immigration from countries that don't have any govt & whose people want to kill us.
The 60,000 to 100,000 visas that trump canceled were all legal immigrants. His action did nothing to prevent illegal immigration. In fact, it may have encouraged it.

Damn, you right wing snowflakes are just too easy. Keep up the crying - we expect it from y'all....

More sniveling than actual crying but your point stands.
Well, if y'all are discussing this commercial with such vigor, it's couldn't have been too much a failure.

Not being a current subscriber, poor old DonDiego was unaware People magazine had weighed in on the matter. As billryan neglected to provide a link DonDiego had to research the matter and found the article: The Ending of 84 Lumber Pro-Immigration Ad Was Deemed Too Controversial for the Super Bowl.

Comments:
i. The title of the article suggests that billryans claim that "The full video is almost six minutes. No way this ever was going to be run during the Super Bowl at the rates they charge" may be an inaccurate, or at least incomplete, analysis.
ii. The first sentence of the article reads: "Who would’ve thought the Super Bowl‘s most effective commercial would be for a lumber company?"
There is no data or analyses present to substantiate this judgement. DonDiego supposes it is Alex Heigl's* opinion. DonDiego encourages people to form their own informed opinion.

linkedin indicates Alex heigl cares about:
Animal Welfare
Arts and Culture
Civil Rights and Social Action
Environment
Human Rights

DonDiego is unlikely to encounter him at a bar.
