I started using accupuncture about 25 years ago at the suggestion of a nurse in my army unit.
I have used an accupunturist to treat allergies. I normally go on my lunch hour. The people in the office are amazed that when I return, my eyes are no longer red. I've actually experienced times when my sinuses were clogged and during my treatment they unclogged instantaneously, like a dam had burst.
Sometimes she will put either short pins or metal balls on my ears that I'm to press from time to time to basically self treat. I've since become very aware when I get tender spots on my ears which I then massage to give myself relief. I believe this is a mainstay of the weight loss and smoking cessation accupunture programs.
My accupunturist works in a doctor's office and all billing to the insurance is paid. I don't think it's submitted as accupuncture but some other covered treatment. (check if any of the chiropracters in your area practice accupunture also)
Also, a side effect of the allergy treatments is that it provides an accupuncture face lift, and it appears to work there too as people normally guess me to be 10-15 years younger than I am.
My accupunturist tells me it is not a cure for my allergies, but rather a treatment for them. I'm okay with that, because I really believe it works for me. Normally I go for 3 treatments spaced a day or two apart whenever I'm having major issues with my allergies.
I'd highly recommend trying it.
