I played bonus poker Saturday night and did fairly well with a modest profit and gaining about 10-thou tier points. It was 8/5 bonus which is supposed to have 99.2% according to Grochowski's book, plus my tier points will add about $100 in bounce back plus whatever I get in free play as a result in future promotions. Hit quad aces twice which were my only W2Gs ($2,000) each.
When I got home I read up on my Bonus strategy and in his book, Grochowski talked about the version of Bonus called Aces and Faces where the bigger payoffs are on quad jacks, queens, and kings instead of 2, 3, 4 and since you are likely to hold a single face card the payback is 99.5%.
I played Aces and Faces last night, adding about another 10K in tier score, and had another modest profit ($300) on the night plus about another $100 on bounce back money. I love this game. And I played it correctly -- even following correct strategy which calls for holding a full house with three aces (which is a sin when playing DDB).
But Grochowski says the game is relatively rare. I never saw it before. Is it in Vegas?
And on the ride home, Slapinfunk and I were discussing the bonus paytable at Caesars and we recall that it was 7/5 and not 8/5.
