ACES and FACES my new favorite VP game

I'm just about ready to sit around the camp fire with Money and Arci and break out into Kumbaya. Maybe Rob can join in?

Money, playing for gas cards? How fedomalley of you. With moves like that, you're going to work your way off Rob's Christmas card list.

Arci, what was in that Kool Aid?

Dan
Dan, the reason I convert my "comp points" to gas cards is that I have no other need for so many points. I rarely go to Vegas now, play mostly locally. My rooms when I go to Vegas are always comped for 7Stars, same with show tickets on the rare occasion when I see a show. that leaves using comp dollars for meals and room service. There is a "merchandise catalog" for using comp dollars and I dont need any more computers or TVs. Gas cards I need not only for personal use but also for business. We sometimes drive 200-400 miles a day doing our work.

Arc, that DD game doesnt exist to the best of my knowledge at Rincon. I dont even know if there is Ace and Faces at Caesars and I think the bonus poker at Caesars is only 7/5. I know that DDB at Caesars is 9/5 without progressives.

Im not going to say that I think like an APer but I do enjoy playing VP and playing craps, and the better my chances of winning, the more I can play. Ive made up my mind to switch from DDB to bonus because after three trips in two weeks I can see that my money lasts much longer and I am able to pile on more fringe benefits from the extra play.

In craps I do the same thing-- by playing the "solid bets" and avoiding hop bets, hard ways, field, and horn bets except on the come out to protect my line bet on the come out.

I could make the analogy that playing DDB VP is being a hardways bettor at craps, while playing JOB or Bonus VP is like playing the pass with placing the inside numbers.
Gas cards have always been a great way to use points. There as good as cash (unless you are Singer who claims comps can't be real money).

My favorite "bonus" type game is Aces and Eights. The 8/5 version of that game returns almost 99.8%. They've had the game at Circus Circus for years with progressives on the RF and Sequential RF so it's usually over 100%. Strategy is essentially the same as regular BP.
To further comment on your post about Grand Casino's Arci. I believe the first one was actually the Mille Lacs Grand right there in your home state. It was started by the Berman Buckskin guy. I think Lyle Berman. After moving to Biloxi and opening, he then had a relationship with Stupak, and actually was the one who forced him out of the Stratosphere. The Stratosphere was owned by Grand Casino's for a period of time. As far as the machines they had I have no idea.

Here's a good detailed history of the Grand Casinos:

I knew that Grand Casinos managed the two "Grand" casinos in MN. I did not previously know that was how they got started.
I spent a lot of time in Biloxi to play poker. I would often drive over for several days, sometimes staying a month or more. 721 miles, I'd be there in 12 hours or less with 3 pit stops along the way. The Grand Biloxi, and Grand Gulfport were, IMO and without any doubt , the most player friendly poker room operations I've ever visited anywhere,(over 200 places) and remain a fond memory.

Gulfport and Biloxi always had "self service" hot dogs, soda, coffee, expresso-cappuchino, fresh fruit, krispy kreme donuts, crudite, and more. The poker rooms would give any player with 3 hours of play a meal comp good for a free buffet, or limited amount voucher for any of the restaurants. I often received meal comps from every shift, sometimes before play. Sometimes pizza was brought in, or other foods as well.

Lyle Berman was extremely "poker friendly" as an owner.

I sure do miss the Grand Biloxi & Gulfport. I made a lot of money over the years playing poker there, and came very close to moving there. One year, I spent more than 200 days in Biloxi.

The games, in those days, were very lucrative.

Damn you Rita & Katrina! Grrr.

Not sure where you live, but we enjoy playing Aces & Faces at Coushatta casino in Kinder, LA (near Lake Charles). They have the 5/8 paytable like a good bonus game. It's a fun game to play for sure!
