Achieving Diamond Status?

To play through $30,000 in one day on Video Poker to get Diamond Players card at Harrahs properties, how much expected loss to me? I know it depends on the pay tables, but just give me a rough estimate. Thanks in advance.
Let's say that you're playing a 8/5 JoB machine with a theo return of 97.3%, you "should" lose $810.

There are better paytables that this depending on where you're willing to travel but you'll find these aplenty in Vegas.

There's a lot of variability in the result desite this being a relatively low volatility game. While there is a chance you could actually win (16.5%), the greater liklihood is that you'll lose and in over half the time you can expect your loss to be up to $2K (from $1 to $2K is a better way to describe it). It breaks down like this:

$1-$1,000= 15%
$1,001-$1,500= 23%
$1,501-$2,000= 21.5%
$2,001-$2,500= 12.5%

Where is the other 28%?
My first suggestion would be to not play the lower paytables at the Harrahs/Caesars properties in Vegas. Play instead at Rincon where they have the full pay machines. Remember, these full pay machines are not positive games, but you will find 9/6 jacks and 8/5 Bonus. Your Rincon points get you the same Diamond card that they give out in Vegas, plus Rincon has cashback and free play offers and quarterly gifts for Diamond players.

edited to add: your play at Rincon also counts towards the Great Gift Wrap Up at the end of the year.

I'm curious what it is about Diamond Status that you are willing to risk a thousand dollars to obtain it in a day? If your normal play justifies it, you'll earn it in the course of the year. If it doesn't, why risk the money? What advantages do you percieve Diamond Status will bring you? I'm a reformed Diamond holder who doesn't miss it whatsoever.

Hey, it brings you deep fried chafing dish appetizers and $10 per bottle wine in an exclusive private area. Isn't that worth risking a thousand or more?
I dont know exactly what "Diamond" gets in LV but Slapinfunk was disappointed yesterday when he could not get a free room, he also was blocked from some Diamond events that he was told he would be invited to, he didnt get certain gift offers that he received emails about earlier, and the Diamond lounges have gone to hell.

And 7stars isnt much better. the 7stars lounge at Caesars with deli bar and dessert bar and wait staff for breakfast and lunch and evening snacks was eliminated about three years ago, the 7 stars checkin closes at 10pm, you have to remind the front desk that you are supposed to have free movies, and you still have to use your total rewards points to pay for everything except for your free room.

the only benefit for 7stars, really, is that you can always get a free upgraded room-- they tell you that you have to give notice but Ive gotten my room while already driving on the I-15.

there are preferred lines for diamond and 7stars at the cage, at restaurants, etc but I always let the older folks, the pretty girls, and those in a hurry to go first anyway.

the only REAL time I found that my 7stars card made a difference at Caesars is when I valet my car or pick it up.

It's different at Rincon with a 7stars card: they will run your debit card at the cage as an ATM charge without an ATM fee. Thats worth $4 a swipe. They dont do that at Caesars. At Rincon the 7stars card gets you two free buffets each day, plus extra cash back and multiplier comp points -- and they dont do that at Caesars. Diamonds at Rincon also get extra comp multiplier points and at Rincon there are special quarterly gifts for Diamonds, special tickets to events, and other promos.

I'd have to run the sim again to get you the exact range but 16.5% would be attributable to the win column and the remainder would be losses in excess of $2,500 although this starts to dramatically decline. I'll run this later today (haven't been to bed yet) and give you the range breakdowns and edit it into this post.

Where exactly are all these 8/5 bp paytables in a Ceasars property in LV?
