Here's how I stand:
1. If overpaid by a dealer I will say something. Im a craps player, and sometime I forget to make a horn high yo bet on the come out and when a craps is thrown the dealers will "protect" me and make the pay even though I forgot to make this bet. This has happened several times over the years.
2. Im not a blackjack player but if a dealer is exposing cards shame on the dealer... and too bad for the casino. But...
3. Ive played poker where many dealers are sloppy dealing and cutting and sometimes the players in seats 1 and 10 (or 9) get to see a card during the cut. And when that happens I say something first to the dealer and then to the floorman. Ive done this even when I sat in the seats next to the dealer.
4. Once (years ago) I was playing slots and found $350 in credits in a machine next to me. I was with friends and we waited about a half hour for someone to come back to the machine, and no one did. So we played the money. Now I know that was wrong and I should have told a casino floorperson (after giving the forgetfull player time to return).
5. Just a word of caution to those of you who think if you smile or grin or moan or start counting chips when you look at your cards at the poker table. Books have been written about "tells." You might think you are sending info to others to make them think you have a good hand or a bad hand, but just be aware that some of us know exactly what you are trying to do.
6. Regarding another poker player reveaing cards: I often play at one casino where there are several disabled players. In fact, two are quadraplegics and have assistants who pick up their hole cards for these players and place their chips, etc. On a few occassions the assistants have to take a bathroom break during play, and then it is not uncommon for those of us next to these players to help these players with their cards -- EVEN IF WE ARE IN THE HAND. We go out of our way to make sure the game is kept fair... no sneaking a peek at the cards. And we also are aware of how the "assistants" might show cards and we go so far as to look away when the assistant takes cards up from the table.
7. Ive been in poker rooms where players have called out "winning hands" that they do not have, and these poker rooms have strict rules. All hands must be shown at the showdown if any player (including those not in the pot) asks to see all hands. And f the winner doesnt have the hand he claimed to have there are big penalties including forfeiting a tournament, the pot in a cash game, and getting banned from the casino.
8. And in some of the LA casinos, if we don't like how you play, some of the guys will escort you to your car. You might make it to your car, and then... you might not.
