Advice Chicago To Vegas

Greetings

I am looking for advice on landing a job in Las Vegas by the early spring. I am a life long Chicagoan who has spent the last 21 years as a Radio Personality, DJ, Promotions Assistant, Marketer,Programmer and Public Speaker. My resume includes 10 years ranked #1, 4 major endorsements including Apple, Bally's, Motorola, and Coca Cola, 2006 guest appearance on Oprah (Debt Diet) and NBC Dateline, countless community service awards, and a long list of interviews including two Presidents. Here is the issue..I was hired onto radio right out of High School so all my training and skills I learned on the job therefore no collage degree. Syndication has killed 75% of local talent so many of us were let go not due to our performance but to save money in a dying industry. I am looking for a fresh start and I believe my skills would bring wining results to any Casino, Promotions/Marketing firm, Night Club, Sports, or Public Relations firm if given the chance. My resume has baffled headhunters and temp agency's and as exciting as my background looks they have no clue what to do with me. I am a winner and I am seeking advice on who I might want to reach out to where my skills can make a positive impact. I am looking to relocate asap and I am very open to starting on a entry level. I would just like a chance to work.

Any Suggestions...

Victor
Check the websites of the various casino companies. You don't need a college degree to get started at casinos. Promotions clerk jobs are an example of an entry-level position that would get you a foot in the door towards marketing jobs. One example is Station Casinos (www.sclv.com) -- click on "careers" at the bottom of the home page. Mostly these jobs are part-time (on-call), though. Full-time jobs are hard to find unless you have experience in the industry.

Make sure you have enough money to live on for a few months, though, while you're looking.

What radio station did you work for in Chicago?
I am curious too being born and breed in Chicago.

Thank you very much for the advice. My problem is when I apply online I am often flagged by the system because of my lack of education that's why I need to talk to a real person so they can understand just what I can do.

Welcome victor1229.... is that Victor as in RCA?

I've been in Radio and Television all my career too. It does help to know someone in the business to get your foot in the door. Vegas is infested with the Clear Channel cookie cutter radio operation too but since they run your Chicago station you might look for an internal contact or transfer. Once you get settled in the local Vegas market then you can look about jumping ship.

Remember all stations have to post links to job openings on their website.

Good luck and feel free to PM me if you want to chat off-mic.
How do I reach you.....?
Click on the lock button in Blade's reply and a pop up box appears. Type your message and hit send and you have PM'd (private message) him.

Thank you Joyce..
Getting your PMs now, thanks for the guidance Joyce.
Don't want to sound like a prick but ... my first suggestion would be to upgrade your spelling and grammar skills ! Just sayin'... first impressions count !
