In other news the Republicans picked up another Senate seat last night, bringing their total to 53
That leaves 1 seat still to be decided, that currently held by Senator Mary Landrieu (D-Louisiana).

And something amazing just happened ! ! !

"Senate Democrats are looking at taking a vote in the lame-duck session that starts today to force approval of TransCanada Corp. (TRP)’s Keystone XL pipeline, a party aide said, a move that may bolster Louisiana Democrat Mary Landrieu’s re-election chances.

The purpose of the vote would be symbolic: To highlight Landrieu’s support for the pipeline and her influence on energy issues in Washington -- a centerpiece of her campaign. A vote in favor of the pipeline may benefit Landrieu in her Dec. 6 runoff election, in which she faces Republican Representative Bill Cassidy."

Since GOP candidate Cassidy was 1% back from Democrat Landrieu in the first election, some might assume that she's the front runner in the "run off". Nope, she's gonna' lose.

Landrieu (Democrat) 42%
Cassidy (Republican) 41%
Maness (Republican) 13%

Most of those 13% Maness voters will move to Cassidy giving the GOP one more seat.................I believe moving us from 53 to 54.

What a great day it is. An easy business day, followed by dinner at a super Lexington, KY joint with an old friend, a little Bourbon, all the while American is in the process of healing herself after a terrible illness. She's very sick, but the antibiotics are kicking in.
