Air Fare Deals

I like Orbiz or Expedia.com for air fair deals!
FareCompare is also worth a look, and they have a cool map where you can find prices for all over the world from your home city. You can also sign up for alerts that will send you an email when the price goes down or up. However, I've sometimes found that by the time they send me an email the price no longer appears to be available and I've also found lower prices at Orbitz or Travelocity in the past, so it pays to check around.

Also keep in mind that I don't believe American Airlines is currently being listed on places such as Orbitz, and I don't believe Southwest is either, so it also can pay to check those places individually.

If you live anywhere close to an airport that Spirit Airlines flies, it is worth your while to check their website daily and sign up for their e-mails. I know, I know, budget airline, no frills, they charge you for checked and carry on baggage, and special seat requests, no snacks or movies, etc. However, if you just want to get to Vegas and are fine with sitting anywhere on the plane and pack creatively, Spirit's rates are absolutely the lowest. To get the lowest fares, you MAY have to join their $9 fare club, which costs $60 a year, so keep that in mind too. However, last week we booked our airfare for our Labor Day trip at $74 each way from Detroit, non-stop flights both ways. And didn't have to join the $9 fare club to get that price ($9 fare club rate was $64 each way) That's a four hour flight. How are they even paying for the fuel at those prices? As far as checking bags go, we plan to check one bag and travel light, light, light.
For me, I use Kayak and their "alerts'
sign up/or in for flights you want, they'll alert you if the prices drop or rise. I do this 3 or 4 months ahead of time
From the NY area, nothing beats Jet Blue. If you are a regular flyer, you can book them at whatever price and wait until they have their slales day. Then you call up and they change your fare from whatever you paid to the sale price($99-$119) to Vegas and give you a credit for the difference. Booking thru their site gives you doulbe milage points as opposed to booking thru expedia or orbitz. For the truly frugal, sign in to the site via eBates and save another $2 RT.
+1. Kayak has a pretty decent engine.

Virgin America is by far the best. (If you are lucky enough to have a city they fly too near ya).

But you gotta use their web site to book 'em.

ABOUT Spirit Airlines:

If the only thing you are taking is your tooth brush & clean pair of undies, they will nickel & dime you to death, by then the total outlay is equal to some other AL's fare.
Thank you all you guys are the best
