Airport to The D

We usually take the shuttle but last time it cost us $19.00 one way for 2 of us. This time there are 4 of us going (3 suitcases). Would it be cheaper to get a cab ? If so, should I instruct the driver to go a certain way (like via Paradise )? Any info/guidance would be most appreciated.
I believe that you'll save time and money taking a taxi. You'll likely save a little money taking Paradise, but you'll likely save a little time going through the tunnel in route to downtown.

I have eaten at Andiamo Steakhouse at the D, and it's downright outstanding. It's an Italian steakhouse, which is a nice twist. You'll find great service, great find, and a nice atmosphere. While expensive, comparable places on the strip will run you 40% more. Like many top notch steak houses, the sides and appetizers are very large and quite reasonably priced. I'm guessing you'll get out for $80 a head. PJ on this site recommended this restaurant to me and it was good advice.
With four passengers, you'll want to take a taxi.

What route you take will come down to current traffic conditions. There are times the tunnel gets a bad rap and rightfully so. But it can work well for downtown depending on traffic. If you have a smartphone, I recommend you search traffic conditions while you wait for your luggage to take the "trust" factor away with the cabbie. And these days the I-15 can be highly congested. There are apps and there are simple Google searches that turn up things like:

If I looked at this map while standing in the taxi line at the moment I post this, I would instruct him or her to take Paradise.

Thank you all - information has been very helpful.

If there is 4 of you I'd rent a car and split it 4 ways. Much more freedom to check out all Vegas and its surrounding communities has to offer.
Just say no to all of the junk insurance they try to sell you at the counter.
Love the Waze app for getting around Vegas, or any city FTM.
Thanks for the tip, Agnes. I just downloaded Waze. I will give it a try.
