I hope they're right, it'd be a very good sign for the region as a whole. If Aliante can make it, any can.

Aliante is NOT "so far from the action" for anyone who lives in the north part of the Valley. It is and always has been a NEIGHBORHOOD casino. What part of that don't you understand??? It has also been profitable for quite some time now, not a "money pit" as you describe it. If Stations had not gotten themselves into a financial mess leading to bankruptcy, they might still own it, instead of giving it to their creditors.

Our hotel is always full. We cater to people in the "neighborhood" and their out-of-town guests. We cater to the military due to the proximity to Nellis -- large groups of them stay here frequently. We host countless business meetings, private events, weddings, etc. Our catering department is very busy.

It's also a beautiful property, still clean after 4 years in operation.

In response to Gruberbox -- I don't know what will happen to the LVA coupons. You'll have to ask the LVA staff to talk to the new management to see if they'll accept them (and possibly renew them for 2013's book). I don't know if anyone at LVA is even aware of what's going on or has spoken to anyone about it. I posted this question on the Questions to Staff board.

Thanks Sue. What else do you expect from a know-it-all like Chilcoot?

Sue,

Thanks for an extremely informative note. I thought Aliante was a very nice property when I made the
trek there a couple of years ago, and I hope you decide to stay on.

Aliante is the product of a territory grab by Station. They bet that the north end of the valley would fill in like the rest of town did in the 1990s and early 2000s. As a result of their awful bet, Aliante is a moneylosing boondoggle of the first order, only different from Fountainbleu and Echelon in scope, not spirit. Station did succeed in scaring away competitors though, gotta credit them for that lol.

It cost $662 million to build Aliante. Ask the lenders who got shafted in bankruptcy court how well Aliente does.

As for where Aliante sits, I give you HP's David McKee, who wrote last year:
"Aliante Station . . . sits on the absolute northern edge of development, next door to miles and miles of empty desert — and that’s no exaggeration" Definitely not an exaggeration.
Gee, I wish I knew as much as Mr. Know -it -all. "This current government has not created jobs" DRMilled. " As a tax paying citizen, I will vote the current White House resident out" DRMilled. and "I will continue to have a job. Thanks Mitt." DRMilled.

Hey.....A political post from the good doctor !

Guess you didn't get the memo

Pretty sad in some respects for sure. Sue posts an informative thread about the upcoming changes at Aliante H&C, and the doc tries to get it deleted with a political rant.

Unfrickinbelievable.

Thanks for the good info, Sue. I may have to check it out in December. I enjoyed Aliante as a whole when I visited it a couple years ago but thought the buffet was underwhelming. If they couple the 10X Points with some decent VP schedules I think it will be well worth the trek out there.
When Aliante was being built, there was no recession yet. There were plans for lots more houses in the area, and the casino was supposed to serve all the people who would live there. Unfortunately, that building didn't happen. But the neighborhood has filled in a lot since I got here in 2006. It doesn't feel like it's "in the middle of nowhere." In fact, contrary to the quote from McKee, there's a lot of houses that are farther north, none of which were here back then.

The casino is not a "moneylosing boondoggle," but has been profitable for some time now.
Thanks for the info Sue. Perhaps you could get the 'New' Aliante to put a $25 matchplay into the MRB....or maybe do one of those Rebate deals for new sign ups. That would be cool.
I certainly hope the master plan for that area includes open space, respecting the natural resources of the desert. I also hope there are no plans to bulldoze, graze or build housing tracks on the mountains close to Aliante and the 215.
marcusdave- I guess you didn't read Chilcoot's reply with his political nonsense. My reply included my version of his political posting - except mine is satire. I guess it is OK for him to post his form of political gibberish but it is not OK for me to post my opinion. Have a nice day.
