I'm shocked that Aliante Station casino customers will not be able to use points in the very same place where they earned them after Nov 1. I can't imagine having to deal with all the very understandable complaints that will arise. As one person here pointed out, as opposed to other Stations properties that are more centrally located, this one is more of a "neighborhood casino". So, Mr and Ms X, playing and earning say $500 in comps in their account, mainly at Aliante, are suddenly going to be told they have no comps available there, and if they want to use those comps, they must go elsewhere to use them? Amazing!
Other casinos have had the sense to handle this differently. One example was the LV Hilton, which allowed points to be carried over from the prior combined Park Place slot club, even after they separated. There was one other case of this also, which I cannot recall the casino, which handled the separation in a way that brought over prior points earned at that location.
What makes this even more amazing, is that technically, there wasn't even an ownership change here, just a operational management change, yet the points earned here before Nov 1 can't be used here!
Lastly, understand that this kind of thing is negotiable. The data is there. If the Aliante owners really wanted to, they could have negotiated as part of the deal to have the Aliante earned points deducted from the Stations accounts Nov 1, and fed to the Aliante team to load onto the new Aliante accounts. (The transfer could even been optional, if management decided that was a better approach, and left up to the customer). There would be an I/S cost to identify and split out these points involved that Aliante would have to fund, but obviously the Aliante ownership felt it was better to leave their customers without their comps, rather to spend some money to make their customers happy in the conversion. That speaks volumes!!!
