Allegiant Air to fly out of Indianapolis

They start flying out of Indy Feb. 27th . Looks like on Mon-Wed-Friday.
They are running special introductory pricing I believe if you book through today.
They've added Indy to Florida routes as well.

FYI
This should a smile on PJ; he needs one after last Tuesday
I smile every day but especially on ones where I discover cheap air fares. Looks like they go direct to Vegas for under $200 right now. Might be booking soon. thanks for the info
$170 round trip Indy to Vegas on certain days. I wasn't planning a near term trip, but may need to change my mind.

Damn, it might be worth the 100mi trip to save a few hundred on my next trip.
I'm lucky. I only have to worry about the cost of a tank of gas and not have worry about airfares and rental cars.
it is good news. however, upon further review, their add-on fees are crazy! they will nickel and dime u to death. even a fee for a carry on bag. (and yes, even a fee to pick your seat :-L ) it might still be cheaper than the others, even with a bunch of fees, but definitely no frills. when it was announced on the news yesterday, I almost booked the $170.00 flight to vegas but I held off. I am hoping it will put pressure on southwest to come back to reality with their fares. I used to visit vegas 3-4 times a year but lately it has just been 1 or 2 times a year because of the high fares. .... so maybe in the spring I will try allegiant at least once and see how it works out.

and while we are at it, does anyone have an experience with allegiant, good or bad, that they would like to share?
Here, here. I've used them before and made another booking for a RT from Los Angeles to Hawaii for Thanksgiving. It is true that they nickel & dime for everything and I mean everything but they are still cheaper than the other major carriers. Add $5 for paying with credit card, the displayed price is for debit card payment. Add about $25 for seat assignment or free if they assign your seat, I paid the $25 for seat assignment. Add about $30 for carry on and $30 - $50 for each checked prepaid luggage, it is cheaper if done early on rather than at the airport. Do you want them to print your boarding pass, $10 more (I won't need to pay this fee). I also bought the trip flex for $12.50 each segment which would allow changes/cancellations at no extra expense. Still with all the additional charges my total was a good $200 less than the major carriers. My total RT was less than $600, the major carriers $800 - $900.
Thanks for the heads up Surf. Hawaii is one of our destinations that we must fly commercial. Allegiant, even with their fees, will save us over $700 for a family of three.
I've only flown Allegiant about 15 times, but compared to my experience with other airlines, they are more likely to delay or cancel flights due to mechanical issues than any other airline, and it isn't even close. While the airline is relatively new, much of their fleet of planes is old. They've stranded me in Las Vegas overnight a few times. One return flight from Las Vegas took three planes to finally get one worthy of boarding. The original inbound flight was cancelled due to mechanical problems. A couple hours later, a plane was towed to the gate at McCarran. After about an hour, they decided that plane was not flight worthy and it was towed away from the gate. 6 hours after the original departure time, they switched the outbound destination of another flight to accommodate the passengers on my flight. A bunch of people who thought they were going to Fresno on that plane got to spend an extra night in Las Vegas. They are a "last resort" option for me, and that is only due to pricing.
