Did he start out running a coffee plantation? No. OMG! He must be an awful CEO of a coffee company. And I'm sure the stock chart would back that up.

And the Ebola Czar never took replaced a bed pan in a hospital. I cant imagine how he can possible be effective without that vital experience.

I'd prefer a recognized international expert in infectious disease control and chief administrator of a large medical organization over an 'Attorney and longtime Political Operative'...Or maybe someone like the General for the Medical Service Corp or someone who has lead major medical relief efforts.

But PJ talks of bed pans and tries to justify an Attorney with zero knowledge of infectious disease control, no involvement in health care management of any kind, zero background in science or medicine, no emergency preparedness organization work.

What the hell are the Job Requirements of Ebola Czar?

Democrat? Check.
Attorney? Check?
Close Personal Friend of the President and Vice President? Check
Political Organizer? Check

This is a crony appointment if there ever was one. Any sane person can see that. It's unfortunate and mindboggling. Just as mindboggling as Bush's attempted appointment of Harriet Miers to the Supreme Court. What were they thinking? Maybe it's something like "I need someone I can trust to have my back on this....who do I owe a favor?"? It certainly wasn't 'how do I get the very best person in the world to run with this thing.

How can you in good conscience believe this is the best President Obama could do?

If you read Howard Schultz's background you will find that he is more than capable to run Starbucks. He may not have personally picked coffeebeans but he knows a lot about coffee, whereas Klein doesn't have any background in medicine

PJ posts that a scientist tells us not to worry about being within 5 inches of an infected Ebola patient. Why is PJ posting this, unless he believes this information is important?

Since folks in hazmat suits became infected with Ebola while in close proximity, I'm confused why PJ finds his post pertinent.

Please explain.

I have posted on one or out recent LVA Ebola strings, that I'm comfortable with a non-scientist managing the Ebola project. I don't desire a political hack like Obama placed, which will put politics in front of American safety. I'm confident that Obama and Friends will put politics far ahead a our health.

Now PJ, tell us if we are safe without a HAZMAT suit sitting next an infected Ebola patient. Since you have posted sites that tell us so, I'm curious.

Doctors are trained to treat disease - not contain outbreaks. Am I wrong? I didn't go to medical school like AlanLeroy. Is there a class in medical school that teaches the history and effects of CDC controls regarding outbreaks? Because the current CDC leader has reached a different conclusion than 75% of doctors by saying the flight bans don't work...and may actually make things worse.

I'm not for throwing caution to the wind....I'm for doing what experts say is the best course of action. I've cited experts. I'm thinking they might be more knowledgeable on the subject than a generic survey of podiatrists and family doctors...or whatever. But its a free country. I dont begrudge you for having a different opinion. And doctors are a better source of information that others have provided on this board.

A Texas health-care worker who “may have” handled lab specimens from Dallas Ebola victim Thomas Eric Duncan boarded the cruise ship Carnival Magic on October 12th.

The Carnival Magic had been waiting off the Mexican coast since Friday morning [17 October] for its scheduled port visit. When Mexican authorities failed to grant permission for the ship to dock off the coast of Cozumel shortly after Noon the ship continued its voyage to its home port of Galveston, Texas, where it was due back on Sunday [19 October], according to Carnival.

What's wrong with those "Mexican authorities"? Don't they know Ebola cannot be transmitted unless one is within 3 feet of an infected person ? Why this could cause an international incident ! Those low-life Mexican bureaucrats will be sorry once The Obama hears about this ! They will likely receive a strongly worded letter from the former Chief of Staff to Al Gore and Joe Biden and now Ebola Czar, Ron Klain.
