In a nutshell, we had a good time, but the gambling was horrible. No royals or deuces on VP. no hand pays on slots and no trips or SF on TCP.
We arrived Wed at 10pm, got a Camaro for $45 (the rest of the rental was with Marriott points) and made it to the M about 11pm. Got a desert view room this time, which is fine - those tend to be cooler since they don't get the afternoon sun. They have taken about about 20% of the machines at the M and the staff isn't quite up to par with the ones in the past. Although the casino is beautiful and the rooms are great, this is probably our last visit with them. They only comp 2 nights max, so we tend to shift over to Station or CET for one night anyway. We didn't win a penny here on tables or slots. HHAG was our breakfast choice for TH and the food was good, but both our tummies hurt for most of the day afterward (too much butter?).
We made the trip to Red Rock to play VP and our money lasted longer, but we gave it back at TCP. Driving the Camaro was fun for DH.
We saw Carrot Top at the Luxor on TH. One of the few shows left that we haven't seen in our 40+ trips to LV. He was funny. The theater is tiny, so it was crowded. We sat (too) close on row 2. I used the Travelzoo discount and paid less than $90 for the pair of tix. Luxor had some fun old style slots that we played for an hour or so. We made the hike to Excal and intended to get out on the strip and cross over to Trop to see the revamp, but it was crowded, the walk is long and Excal is confusing. DH was getting frustrated with the crowds, so we just hiked back to Luxor and got the car. Played for an hour at M and hit the sack at 1:30am. Those beds at M are extremely comfy and it was hard to get up in the morning. We packed up, grabbed a coffee and danish at Baby Cakes and headed out to GVR. There was a special going on at GVR with double points and some kind of drawing, so the place was hopping. We had our best sessions here. I played DW for two hours and cashed up $150, then we decided to sit at a bank of Quick Hits and both cashed $160. Gave $100 back on TCP, but we really had fun at GVR. Will probably give Stations a bit more business next trip. Our freeplay and points gave us extra cash for slots and a free lunch.
We drove over to the the Silverton, where we had an offer for one free night. At first the front desk said there were no King beds left, but a $10 got us upgraded to a beautiful suite. I loved that room - two full rooms, dining table, leather couches, magnificent bed, jacuzzi tub and nice shower. The Silverton has some beautiful touches in the casino, too. We liked the mexican food restaurant the best - so pretty with all the glass. But the gambling here was horrible as well. No full pay VP machines that I could find, and slots were tight. I chased the quarter DW royal progressive that was up to $1600 on Friday night, but someone else must have hit it - it was $1004 on Saturday morning. We lost at TCP, too. But everyone was friendly and the food was good. We might be back, depending on offers.
Sorry for the short report. There wasn't much exciting about this trip, other than it being Vegas, which is my favorite city, with my favorite person (DH). Hope to have more reports this year, hopefully with better gambling results.
