Another Lion Meltdown !!!

Indeed, . . . teechur and DonDiego visited the "City by the Bay" in October of 2004, . . . . a most pleasant vacation spot, Big Trees at Muir Woods, excellent seafood on the pier and Chinese vittles in Chinatown, fun with the buskers, contemplating spending time in Alcatraz, and a wonderful NFL Football Contest between the visiting Arizona Cardinals until the final seconds of the game.
As wikipedia summarizes the game:
"After a scoreless first quarter, the Cardinals took a 16-point lead 28-12. In the fourth quarter, the 49ers scored 16 unanswered points (two touchdowns with two accompanying two-point conversions) to tie the game as regulation ended. In the overtime period, the 49ers' kicker Todd Peterson sent a 32-yard kick through the uprights, giving the 49ers their first victory of the season."

Artists' renderings of Candlestick's replacement, Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, suggest an airy open venue conducive to good cheer and fun times:

Levi's Stadium will host SuperBowl L in February 2016. If the wondrous, delightful, Team-from-the-City-of-Brotherly-Love is a participant, poor old DonDiego may have to attend, . . . even if it means selling one of his rarely-used kidneys on the black market.

Bye Bye coaching staff!!!!!

This is a little off topic, but I lived at the Presidio San Francisco Army base for 8 weeks and I definitely agree with DD's recommendation of Muir Woods a mere half hour or perhaps a little more trip north of SF if you've never seen Redwoods!

Also, once across the Golden Gate take a trip up to Mount Tam in the Sausalito area. They say on a clear day you can see Reno. But the view of the bay area is fantastic.

I also agree with his "fun with the buskers" or street performers along the Bay. Fantastic talent on display for tips and you can enjoy the seafood and Ghiradelli chocolate factory as well.

I visited Alcatraz about a year after the Clint Eastwood movie "Escape from Alcatraz" was made and they had spruced up part of it to film there. If you're a history buff it is still very interesting.

Also, if on an extended stay, check out the Winchester House in San Jose about an hour South of SF. Psychics told the wife of the inventor of the Winchester rifle if she kept building the spirits of all the Indians killed by Winchester rifles wouldn't haunt her anymore so she did just that.

GO GIANTS!!!

Bags,

I was sweating that one out. Not that the Giants had anything to gain from winning, but they never seem to let up with Coughlin as coach.

I've suffered with them since the early 70's with Rocky Thompson, Tucker Frederickson, Bob Tucker, Norm Snead, Fran Tarkenton.

I took the Alcatraz tour about 15 to 18 years ago. Fascinating, but I was amazed at how tiny it was. I was expecting this massive prison. The cell blocks (except for D) were only the rows.

Definitely not true, the Sierra Nevadas are in the way.

Definitely true.
Went to one game at Candlestick when I was a kid, and as a Dodger fan, I rooted for them to lose. But it was somewhat memorable beyond that. Tony Cloninger, pitcher for the Braves, hit two grand slam home runs.
