No, Brad did the math like a good consumer should and compared the bottom line costs and benefits.

Ellen- I would choose neither- I have plenty of casinos who comp me rooms WITHOUT the ripoff "resort" fees. I will never stay at any casino that charges me a "resort" fee. And I will not gamble at any of the casinos that charge this asinine "fee"- they have lost my business.

I swear I was perusing a web site recently and I ran across something similar to this: "resort fee covers gym access, two bottles of waters per day, free wi-fi, and a guarantee that you won't have to see drmilled."

Makes one reconsider resort fees!

HA!
When they started to charge resort fees in Vegas, some hotels were claiming that the fees included free parking and free valet (things that always existed). I thought that took a lot of chutzpah for them to do that. WiFi is ever expanding and may someday cover all of downtown and the strip. If so, the free wi-fi also would ring hollow. The Luxor used to advertise that the fee included a free newspaper, but you had to pick it up in the business center. They also advertised that it included free notary work. I don't know about now, but to notarize a signature, it used to cost $10 per signature. Travelling notaries can charge more, but regular notaries were limited to that price. I would have loved if some person or business came into the Luxor and had to have hundreds of documents notarized. I wonder if the resort fee would have covered it. Most are offering use of the health spa, but you need to read the fine print. I'm guessing that most customers don't use the health spa or gym.

It would be nice if each resort offer you a choice of either signing on to the fee or not signing on. I for one do not need the use of WiFi, the use of the spa, two bottles of water, or a newspaper. None of these things really fit into my plans while in Las Vegas.

That would defeat the whole purpose of the resort fees which is to get extra money out of your wallet.
