anti-oooooooooooook then thread

Traveled today to Grande Prairie, Alberta via three flights. Started out in Tampa with a 5 A.M. wake up call and it's now 12:40 A.M. EST on Tuesday.....been a long day.

It's pretty wild here.....10:40 P.M. and it's now just twilight!

Not my idea of a long holiday weekend but sounds a bit more civilized than Bob Orme's!

The silver lining is that I'll be back in Vegas in time for a late dinner this coming Friday.

Dan,

Please hit a bunch of royals and post them to piss tomdoug off!

We got a ton of work done around the house. Cleaned off the deck and all the flower beds cleaned out and flowers put in. Got the azealea beds cleaned out and mulched along with the front hosta beds,Took apart the barzebo roof which had collapsed last winter, and thrown away along with a bunch of other trash. Did some cleaning out of the garage and made a more convinient spot for a bunch of my tools.Took the ladder rack of my old truck, ready to sell($350 cash towards vegas fund )

Also painted my 3 shelf planter stand which i filled up with a bunch of herbs(scallions, cilantro, basil, mint, greek and Italian oregano, tarragon, fennel, and parsley.Made a spot to stick some potato buds in a section of a flower bed. I'm also doing some container gardening with tomatoes(better boy and roma's). Got the trellises installed for those as well.

Two trips to home depot and got a couple cool thing along with all the flowers and stuff. Got a really cool firepit for 30 bucks. It was a $90 item, but it was marked wrong, they gave it to us for 30. Got a 50' garden hose that is coiled with a little rack so it takes up almost no space,Installed that on the brick that runs along the front sidewalk,no more tripping over the hose when its hooked up.Very cool.

Cleaned out my closet. Amazing how much stuff I have, some of it still had tags on it.I probably have 200 t-shirts and I realized i'm pretty much a walking billboard. Every state ,city, roller coaster, bars and too much more is well represented. I also cleaned out a few of our junk drawers in the kitchen.I bet we had 100,000 address labels in one drawer, sheets and sheets of 'em. We probably only mail 2 dozen letters a year now.

I think thats it,SHEEWEE! It all couldn't have gotten done w/o the help of my wifes parents(actually i consider them my parents too,I couldn't ask for nicer in-laws). They were here fri. and part of saturday.

Oh,I forgot, our fridge was gasping for its last breath, so hit HHGREGG for a new fridge. It came saturday so that was a little bit of a fiasco.Who in the heck says 'don't use for 24 hrs after plugging in'. HUH? we have a ton of shrimp and meat amongst other stuff.

Not too bad for a guy like me. Felt great to be outside getting things done.

JOHN

PS Thaks for starting this thread.By the title,I thought"oh shit,it's snowballing". So glad its not.

Excellent! Were there any BBQ'd items to go with it?

We bought some chicken - the idea being we would grill it for some fajitas. But I wasn't getting anywhere near a grill yesterday...it was way too hot =)

Good luck on the Vegas trip. I will be there in October when the Bears play MNF against your Lions on 10 October ---- if there is a football season

BTW -- DonDiego, I am bald, but they say that occurs when people have so many brains it pushes the hair right out of your head.

jphelan- I hope there will be a football season. You'll probably make a ton of cash if you bet against the Lions that weekend. I'm sure Stafford will be out for the season (again) by that game.

Thanks everybody for the great posts..looks like it was a great weekend for most.

Madcat errr...wife... You are right again!
Spent the last two days with my family. It doesn't sound like my grilling was as tasty as PJ's though.
Yesterday was a GREAT Memorial Day! BBQ Baby Back Ribs - my wifes recipe that rivals anything you can get in any restaurant, my BBQ chicken breasts (marinade in zesty Italian dressing, my own cayenne peppers and anything else the sounds good at the time), corn on the cob, potato salad, Margaritas and Beer.

Combine that with a beautiful, sunny 90 degree day with a nice breeze = perfection!!!
Since my apt complex put the end to grills, I had baked chicken, w/shrooms and veg.
Played golf all three days, walking at Maui Country Club. 77,82, 73. Lots of cigars. Saw Na Koa Ikaiki baseball team lose to the Lake County Fielders on Friday. Saturday was dvd's from Netflix, and on Monday I BBQ'd tri tip. Which went really good with sauteed mushrooms, garlic mashed potatoes and my new wife made fresh avo, corn, cilantro, tomato and onion dip. She is the best. My next trip to LAS is July 7-14 with my college buddies from UCSB, class of 85 at the Mirage. We have a cabana in the adult pool area for Friday and Saturday. On Monday, the boys leave and I meet my wife at Vdara. We return to Vdara on Oct 1. Got them on Priceline as 5 star property. No smoking, no gaming but we love to stroll the strip, so no worries.
