You probably don't have the time to be reading this message board if you are. Long hours and longer days ahead for you. Hope you got your vacations in this last month.

Because 1099's come so late, the real tax season doesn't start until the latter part of February. I have estate tax returns to prepare in the mean time.

The new medicare surtax is going to be a bitch to calculate this year, because calculating it will take into consideration the phase out of itemized deductions and state tax refunds.

Corporate accountant here. I do a grand total of 4 tax returns per year, including my own. My fiscal year is over and closed so I am at my leisure for a little while now.

It's just funny to me how any time anyone asks me what I do and I say I am an accountant, I automatically hear something like "wow, you must be super busy right now" if it's prior to April 15, or "I bet you are glad tax season is over" if it's May.

Is anyone really putting anything in Box 12 with code DD on the W2's? There is great disagreement as to whether proper notice of guidance has been given for companies under 250 employees.

Except that I'm down to three "clients" now as my daughter married a guy that works multiple states a lot and I was going nowhere near that one!!
