Anyone from Houston, familiar with Downtown?

I can't even name our pitchers anymore. Too many injuries!
Agnes, The Woodlands is a fantastic place. Only those who've never visited could or would say bad things about it. I was last there in January, but have visited many additional times to play golf, or to just walk the canal and eat and drink at all the fantastic places.

Granted, the Houston area is hot for three months every year. I'll take that any day over cold for three months of the year.

When in town, I stay with my buddy at his Champions area house, or his Lake Conroe lake house.

As far as living here on purpose - yep, that's us! We retired to Texas about 18 years ago to a master-planned community north of Houston (The Woodlands). We've loved every minute, with among other things- no state taxes, the diversity, and no winter weather. Did I mention my only grandchild lives 7 minutes away? We agree with the non-native Texans' motto: "We got here just as quick as we could." (A little bit of throw-up came to the back of my throat saying that cuz we were raised to hate all-things-Texas. Sorry, Daddy, changes in latitudes lead to changes in attitudes.)

Hope you have a great time! If you have the time or transportation, you're also just about 90 minutes from the Galveston beach.

Back from Houston. The Flying Saucer was friggin' awesome. A lot like some good bars we have here in PDX. I ended up there 3 out of the four nights.....it's too damn expensive to drink in the hotel bar. One of the nights I was with some convention friends and we were all pretty toasted......walking through Discovery Park at 1:30am playing Pokémon Go with tons of other groups. I had no idea what it was until that night but everyone was friendly and fun. Maybe that is how we will heal race relations.

Went to Dirt Bar and Reserve 101. Those were pretty basic drinking places. Ate at the South Coast Grill once and that was very very good.....of course it was a free dinner so I won't complain. Stay up until 2am every night, 4am the last night standing around a piano singing Billy Joel songs with an amazing musician from Orlando.

Oh the Phoenecia (sp?) deli near the hotel was amazing!! Ate there for lunch three times. You could go there 50 times and try different things. I felt bad for the convention people who never discovered that place. Thanks all, for the recommendations.

Next year we are in CINCINATTI!!! (never been.......)
