Apple laptop

Hi Everyone, and Happy New Year.

I need some help, I have a Toshiba and the motherboard is going out.
I was looking at the MacBook and the Air. Who owns what, what do you like and recommend? I loathe windows at this point. Gates can kiss my rear end, I have heard the OS for apple is much better.
My husbands org Toshiba is still working today, from his deployment in 2002 and been there in the sandbox multiple times. I thought well, Ill get a Toshiba too, top of the line if it lasts THAT LONG. No, mine is about 2.5 years old and going out. I did reading and found out that was a BAD year to buy from Toshiba.( I guess when the first one was sent and the disk drive did not work I should have had a sign).

My husbands Toshiba we bought at the same time for less is still hanging on..
So I want to get away from windows, and everyone I also talk to loves their apple laptop.

So any help is appreciated.
I have an iMac so I am somewhat familiar with Mac products. If you want to switch to apple now is the time as a new windows laptop will mean you have to learn windows 8 anyway. The Mac OS is just more elegant IMO, but there is a learning curve. Here is the other thing Apple products are very expensive to get repaired because of the proprietary parts and how they package their products (they are difficult to disassemble for the most part)So if you go Mac I'd suggest opting for an extended warranty.

TOSHIBA's current USB ports seem like they are made of glass and then if you turn a warranty claim in they say it was user damage and it is not covered by warranty. All three of mine went out within a couple of months and my friend's all blew out too within a few months. I got mine covered because I had an extended warranty that covered accidents, but she had to pay money to get hers fixed. TOSHIBAs aren't what they were 4-5 years ago now they build them cheap as they can.

Right now for windows machines I am fond of the Lenovo brand.
Windows 8 blows ...but Windows 7 is pretty good...think of it like a slightly lesser version of Apples OS....and much cheaper. You can still buy PCs with it installed directly from HP/DeLL/Best Buy. I have one in the mail from HP as i write this.

I agree Apple has a better desktop experience...but so what? Everything is moving to the cloud now. As long as you have a keyboard with an internet connection does it really matter anymore what your desktop operating system is? Give me some place to store files, play games, and connect to the web...thats all I really demand from a PC anymore
