Are the Riviera's days numbered?

It looks like they might be.

The MJ Live show and the Rat Pack is Back both move from Rio to the Riviera next month. I bet they are less than thrilled to be hearing this.
Wow, thats a bombshell. Just when the north strip was starting to get lively again. What convention do the owners plan on hosting that will take up that much more space?
1st place I stayed at in Vegas in 1995.Not surprised, but I hate to see the old places go.

I stayed there in January and was very impressed for the price! I think this could be the end of $1, much less $5, blackjack on the strip. Too bad.
The really important question, unanswered by this information, is:

WHAT will happen to the " brass ass " showgirls sculpture?

This is a Vegas icon. It should be legally protected as a historical landmark, and remain in the same location in perpetuity.

I'll second the motion

DonDiego has many memories from the Riviera when he was at the height of his gaming avocation.

Why, one day a fella playing at DonDiego's table in a blackjack tournament fell forward into his chip stack, . . . dead of a heart attack. Up until that moment that fella had been leading the table.

Ahh, . . . the Vegas memories, . . .
My biggest memories of the Riviera were watching the moving Casino being filmed there in the casino. I also remember on one of my first trips to Vegas, we stopped at the Riviera. There was a blackjack table that was roped off with a guard telling people to move on. Finally the player shows up. His girlfriend sits at first base and looks bored as hell. He is allowed to play all seven spots on the table and looked like he was betting 25,000 a hand. Anyhow, he was winning and we figured that he was 100 to 150 thousand ahead when we moved on.
