Define outbreak.

If one person gets a cold it's an outbreak, if 10 folk do it's an epidemic, and if 50 folks get sick it's a pandemic.

When I clicked on the link, the bottom of the page showed 4 ads, the first was "Official response by ARIA: Concerned about Legionnella news? Get the latest info and updates" followed by an ad to stay at the Cosmopoliton.

Is there any negligence by MGM?

A lot of people are blasting Aria/MGM, but things happen.

"Each year, between 8,000 and 18,000 Americans are hospitalized with Legionnaires' disease, according to the CDC. It tends to erupt during the summer and early fall months, and its fatality rate ranges from 5 to 30 percent. "

So each year we have between 400 and 5,400 fatalities depending on whether you use 8K or 18K or 5% or 30%. The CDC is a little loose with their stats.

Those are not the real ones, just the press ones. Although the epidemic would fit here as the number of cases is larger than the norm.

Pandemic is worldwide, so that one is out.
