As Ramadi falls yesterday our President enjoys Twitter

"That's the result of 10 years of training their troops and a cost of hundreds of billions of dollars from US taxpayers"

For most of those years obama was president. Remember obama was going to degrade ISIS.

Yep and your buddy B Hussein could have avoided the whole thing by leaving troops on the ground...
Until...forever! - just like they said about Vietnam.

Or maybe we should stick to nation-building in America.

OR....How about like we did in Japan. There's a great example for you.

Think what Vietnam would be like today if we had stayed and helped the pro democracy Vietnamese...
The Nike factory would be twice as big? The Ho Tram Strip casino would have 9/6 Jacks or Better VP - with NO resort fee? Details please! And what, it would have only cost another 60,000 American and a million Vietnamese lives - totally worth it, right?

And who told you that the Vietnam War was about democracy? The US cancelled Vietnam's elections in 1954 because we didn't like the probable winner. Then to run the country, we sided with the tiny minority of Vietnamese who were French-speaking Catholics who had sided with the French in the Vietnam war of independence. And then when we got tired of our hand-picked President Diem, the CIA helped assassinate him. Can't you just smell the democracy?

And the United States was always happy to support dictators who oppressed, tortured, and murdered their citizens. We overthrew a democratically elected leader in Iran, and installed the Shah. We supported a Fascist dictator in Spain who came to power with support from Adolf Hitler. We supported all manner of war criminals in South America. And let's not forget about our support of Saddam.

The United States has NEVER had a problem with governments that oppressed its people. The United States had a problem with governments that oppressed Standard Oil and United Fruit Company. If Ho had allowed capitalism, the US wouldn't have peeped if he had ordered his military to throw live human beings out of helicopters, just like Kissinger's BFF, Augusto Pinochet.

And cowboy, since you imagine yourself a student of history (Ha!), why don't you research the history of the Soviet Union in Afghanistan? Or the French in Vietnam? Or the French in Iraq? Or the British in Iraq? Or the British in South Africa? Or the story of Hanukkah? Or the American Revolutionary War?

Occupying forces eventually lose, because they deserve to.
The United States has NEVER had a problem with governments that oppressed its people.

I think the US has had problems with the Soviet Union, Red China, N Korea, Libya, Cuba, Nazi Germany, Iran to name a few.

Name a true democracy that Russia, China, N. Korea & Iran support?

Iraqi troops outnumbered ISIS 7:1 in Ramadi and they fled...leaving behind an arsenal of US tanks and heavy weaponry now in the hands of ISIS.

Raise your hand if you think America should fight for a country with people too cowardly too fight for it themselves. My hand is down.

Another in a long line of train derailments occurred in America last week...and the Republican Senate responded by cutting funding for that infrastructure. Many of those same people want another surge in Iraq.
While our infrastructure falls apart the Rumsfeld disciples are most concerned about achieving Bush's land of Oz in the Middle East.

The Republican spending platform for 2016: rebuild Iraq and let America fall apart.

I have to admit I'm tired of the US screwing around in the middle east, not now that we already pulled out. I AM a fan of putting this country first and that means from bridges to Vets. It seems to be a mess.

If it were up to me, I'd be a total isolationist, screw everybody(except humanitarian aid). No more financial, military, or any kind of aid to all other countries, EVERYBODY. Why in the hell do we give Pakistan several billion dollars? They hate us anyway. One of many.

On an aside point, I wonder how long any captured tanks/artillery or whatever is really of use to them. I'm not military but don't tanks break down all the time and a whole boatload of spare parts to keep 'em going? What about the shells, well I guess those would be fairly easy to obtain. How long would any of this hardware last w/o support?

Well put.

Where have the republicans said that?

The Amtrak train accident was due to excessive speed, not lack of infrastructure. Other than the northeast, Amtrak rail loses money, due to lack of ridership. There are cheaper more efficient ways to travel.

Think what Iraq would be like today and in the near future if we had stayed and helped the way the pro democracy citizens of Iraq thought we were going to do.

550000 combat troops in Vietnam, hundreds of American deaths every week, a rat hole for billions upon hundreds of billions of dollars--and you wanted to stay longer? You are out of your damn mind!

More US troops in Iraq, "pro-democracy citizens" in Iraq, stay longer to referee a thousand year-old Shitte vs Sunni feud---you are out of your God damn mind!

Shameful that our President doesn't stick with dignified activities.
