I started my trips to Vegas in 1988, and went 8 times thru 1996. I finally returned after 15 years , and love most of it.
I stayed at 3 hotels , 2 nights each. Hooters was amazing..free steak with sign up. $1.50 Bud + Bud lights.
Good rooms with strip view were $21 plus $8 service fee. I walked across the street to MGM for sports book, and everything was close by. Great location for quick ride to airport, and super staff at Hooters.
The Plaza was redone with nice HD new T.V.'s . Low water pressure in showers. $58.00 for 2 nights.
I wanted to stay DT , cause that was my first stop back in 1988. It was what I expected. A 3 day bus pass $20 on the deuce got me back , and forth to strip. Lot of one of a kind charcters DT, and thats what makes it unique. Golden Nugget , and Fremont buffets were good. Halloween month , so they were all dressed up with Alice Cooper cover band.
I stayed at Texas Station up on Rancho , cause it was only $95 for both Friday + Sat night. I didn't like the area, or people, but it was nice back in 1996. They also chraged me $13 a nite service fee for things most casinos give for free. They advertise Buds for a Buck on FRi, Sat , Sun, but the bartender charged me $3.50, on FRiday , cause he said a game has to be on. It had just ended. Awful.
I ended up going to about 51 casinos some 4 ,or 5 times. I signed up for about 25 players cards, to get email bargains for my next trip in December when I return to run the Rock+ roll half marathon on the strip .
Thye expect 23,000 runners just for the half with the strip shut down for a few hours. It must be just one side of the strip.
The cabbie recommended Green Valley, or Red Rock for local casinos off strip instead of slummy Texas.
My favorite casinos were Gold Coast, NY NY, MGm ,Harrah's , Casino Royale, Mirage, Caesar's, Bellagio, and the Hilton for odds in the sports book. Bellagio was by far my fav buffet out of about 10. Gold Coast was best bargain.
I was dissapointed with the way TI changed the pirate show, and the sign.I guess their family theme from the 1990's didn't cut it. North end of the strip is dying. Strat gets the visitors for the view.Rivera, and circus would be my next 2 casinos on the grave stone, and looks like a couple casinos constructions stalled, and even Sahara was closed. Remember I am just a visitor, so I don't know as much as you regular locals, but you can reply to let me know what's good.
Hard Rock was darkest, Trop was brightest. Palms seems to have the hottest cocktail outfits. All the tourists were getting off the Duece bus to head over to the Pawn shop, past Strat.
I shopped around for NHL Hockey odds on my Flyers , and got 12-1 at Hilton, for cup , and 7-1 for East. It was worth the $110 bucks for tram ride even though it broke down , and you had to use south side for both directions.
Now that I finally returned, to the greatest city in America, I will get the coupon book here, and take all your advice to make future trips much better. BTY, I won $200 , and put it on the Flyers. I ran out of football to bet after Monday night.
I am 45 minutes from Foxwoods, and Mgm casino in CT, and you Vegas
Residents have no idea how great it is to have over 100 casinos, buffets, and a giant variety of everything out in the desert.
The comps, weather, buffet , no sports betting, and no other choices to do anything here in New England, make Vegas the Best by far. Reply, and see you in December. The Glass pool was gone , but the sign is still their. See you soon.
