Bellagio Room Upgrades

Morning Folks

I am heading back to Vegas twice this year and cant wait.

Regular yearly trip in May with the boys and then again at the begining of September as part of my Honeymoon.

Getting married in New York then heading to San Fransisco for 3 nights and then Vegas for 4 nights before heading back to the Uk.

I have booked the whole thing via a UK travel agent including our Vegas room at the Bellagio (normally stay at Luxor fully comped).

I want to upgrade the bellagio room to at least a fountain view room on a high floor or if possible a suite with fountain view. UK agent wants about $1900 to upgrade to a bellagio suite with fountain view.

Surely if I wait till we arrive I will be able to upgrade at check in for significantly less than that or is it worth wandering over to Bellagio in May when I am in town and trying to see a host and sort something out with them to get an upgrade? I dont mind paying but nearly $2k for 4 nights seems ridicoulsly high.

Anyone got any experience or can offer some help as you people always help me out with some good Vegas advice.

Thanks in advance

What kind of suite are you looking at? A 1 bedroom suite for $500 per night with a fountain view is prob. about average. Those and the 2 bedrooms are on the top floors. Not sure what kind of reduced price you would get once you get there.
I have stayed in the 2 bedroom and it is nice. The bathrooms are huge with separate his/hers bathrooms. Don't know the layout of 1 bedrooms. Not sure what we would have actualy paid, though, since we originally had a 2 br suite at mirage and when we got there, they weren't finished remodelling them and they got us a fountain view suite at Bellagio. I love staying there, but I wouldn't pay $500/night.

I'm a low roller and was surpised to see that I had a 3 Night comp with $75 of freeplay for the Bellagio (thru the playersclub website) - regular room. I decided to take advantage of it.

When I arrived (last September), I went to the first check-in line I saw (very far left). After a minute or two a man in a suit comes out of a door that was just left of my line - he looks at the check-in lines and approaches the woman in front of me. They speak for a bit then she leaves. He then comes up to me and asks if I was checking in - yes I am. He then tells me to go thru that door to check-in.

Inside that room, the lady asks if I ever stayed at the Bellagio - "No, never had - always wanted to because this place is just so elegant........."

Then she said "Since this is your first visit to the Bellagio - I'm going to upgrade you to a Fountain View Room (12-040)....."

PS Still to this day I don't know if that is some type of VIP check-in (I don't recall seeing a sign on the door) or just a way of handling overflow from the front.
PSS Bellagio has a TV station (channel 31?) dedicated to the Fountains - turn it on when the fountain show is going.
