Impressive race. He won it going away. Now the question is whether he is retired to stud or does he race in the Breeders Cup?

"The horse's owners, Zayat Stables, sold his breeding rights on May 20 for an undisclosed amount, just four days after he won the Preakness and became a contender for the Triple Crown.
Justin Zayat, racing manager for Zayat Stables, told ESPN that they had passed on an offer 'north of $20 million' for the breeding rights.
But when the sale was announced, his father Ahmed Zayat told the sports network it was an offer he just couldn't pass up."

Heck they could have had AlanLeroy's breeding rights for $20 million.

I'm tickled to death. This was a west coast horse ( I live three blocks from Santa Anita). Bob Baffert is a great guy. The Belmont saboteurs did not win. The only triple crown winner to beat his time was Secratariat. Baffert wanted the jockey to take the horse to the front. The 2 and 4 furlong times were rather slow, meaning this horse had a lot of gas left in the tank when he hit the stretch and he pulled away from the field. Text book race with a very high quality horse.
I do not believe in saboteurs, I think a true Triple Crown Winner can beat all comers like American Pharoah did. The system is working because Triple Crown Champions are rare. No need to change standards and start handing out 7th place trophies.

Interesting piece of trivia about Santa Anita. The Wally World parking lot scene at the end of the movie Vacation was actually the parking lot of SA, the amusement park in the background was just an artist's rendering. Also, that was the original end of the movie( Clark and Rusty racing up to the front gate), they didn't film anything further and that didn't go over with the preview audiences at all, so they had to write up some kind of ending. That's where John Candy was brought in( for a million bucks), and they shot all the inside the park stuff. One small problem, Rusty had taken a major growth spurt in that short time so in that last segment you'll notice he's all of a sudden a full head taller than Beverley D'Angelo.

Nuttin' important, just trivia.

I'm very familiar with that ending. I used to live in Orange County and would go with friends to Santa Anita. When we saw that scene we laughed and joked that was us trying to make it in time to get a bet in.
