Bergdahl charged with treason

Inflation hits hard. It's 3 buck Chuck now.
Surprisingly, Time Magazine presents a pretty fair summary of the "Bergdahl Release" and subsequent events, . . . and even discusses potential impacts on future events.

DonDiego does question that the major thrust of the piece is that perhaps The Obama negotiated poorly in exchanging 5 Taliban Commanders for 1 Sergeant (Sergeant Bergdahl was a Private First Class when he went missing in 2009. He was automatically promoted twice while in captivity. He was promoted to the rank of specialist in June 2010 and then sergeant in June 2011.) It is DonDiego's understanding that the entire negotiation comprised the Taliban leadership explicitly demanding the 5 Taliban Commanders for Sergeant Bergdahl, and The Obama saying "OK".
DonDiego supposes this is pretty much how The Obama's negotiations with Iran over nuclear weapons development is going.

DonDiego trusts that, in the event Sergeant Bergdahl is imprisoned, pjstroh will visit him. It is the least he could do.

***EDITED TO ADD***
Just so DonDiego is not accused of inconsistency in discussing "treason", . . . not that inconsistency is necessarily a bad thing, . . . DonDiego does not opine that Sergeant is guilty of treason.
"18 U.S. Code ยง 2381 - Treason
Whoever, owing allegiance to the United States, levies war against them or adheres to their enemies, giving them aid and comfort within the United States or elsewhere, is guilty of treason and shall suffer death, or shall be imprisoned not less than five years and fined under this title but not less than $10,000; and shall be incapable of holding any office under the United States."

Nah, The least I can do is support giving him a fair trial by his own country. But we have members in this forum that apparently believe fair trials should only be awarded to people they perceive to be innocent.

Just for a point of reference...how many terrorists should the Obama trade for DonDiego in the event he is kidknapped by ISIS in Appalachia? Three? One? half?

The United States of America Does Not Negotiate with Terrorists. Let me rephrase that. The USA should not negotiate with Terrorists. Instead, we should pray for DonDiego's safe return....and let's hope that the torture he endured will not be life altering. And if he is not returned safely let's renew our efforts to quash Terrorism wherever it lives...with the battle cry "Remember DonDiego!"

DonDiego fully endorses alanleroy's thoughtful position.

Although not a confirmed believer in any particular diety, . . . yet, . . . DonDiego appreciates any prayers offered on his behalf. DonDiego is already an old man and his ever advancing decrepitude should preclude any deal with the terrorists. He is unlikely to survive torture for long, so at least he has that going for him. [Besides he already reads the postings of marcisdave on LVA; what could be worse torture than that?]
