Best first line of a song.

"I woke up Sunday morning with no way to hold my head that didn't hurt...,"

made me love the song on first hearing. That's my official choice.

Someone else named a good George Strait first line, but not my favorite, which summarizes a life: "Amarillo by morning..."

For the Beatles, you can't forget "Ham and eggs..."

or for Sinatra, "That's life..."

or for Broadway, most appropriate in today's world: "You've got to be taught to hate and fear..."

So many good ones.

She was just 17, if you know what I mean...

"I met a gin soaked barroom queen in Memphis"

Ah we're drinking and we're dancing, and the band is really happening, and the Johnny Walker wisdom running high

........... And my very sweet companion, she's the Angel of Compassion, ...... she's rubbing half the world against her thigh

Closing Time by Leonard Cohen

Rick
Nice one Rick!!!

Now the flames they followed Joan of Arc
as she came riding through the dark;
no moon to keep her armour bright,
no man to get her through this very smoky night ...

but this is first lines and I think George Harrison wins hands down w/ his Beatle song/ end of conversation
