Best place on strip for gambling?

Been kind of dead around here. Let's start something...

What is the best place on strip for gambling? You're views...
It depends what you're playing.
The Riviera probably has the best combination of low limits and good rules on the table games. I haven't found anywhere on the strip that offers good VP/slot action - although I usually end up dumping a $100 in Casino Royale just because its fun hanging out in there.
The best place on the strip for gambling is not on the strip
Closest is probably LVH
After that - downtown.

South Point, which is on Las Vegas Blvd.
totally depends on what you are playing, your budget, and the importance of non dumpiness, cocktail service, etc to your overall gambling experience.

DonDiego is a "numbers-type-of-guy", so the best places for DonDiego are those which offer more player favorable games. And DonDiego is cheap, so he looks for lower limits. And in so far as gambling goes, DonDiego does not care what the ambiance of the joint is.

For blackjack these criteria lead DonDiego Downtown, . . . usually to the "El Cortez Hotel and Casino - Las Vegas Like It Used to Be'. On the Strip they'd lead him to the MGM Grand and Mandalay Bay where at off-hours lower-limit games might be offered, . . . and, perhaps, The Mirage, TI, and even The Bellagio and Encore too. Tip: One should never play 6-to-5 blackjack.

DonDiego also bets the NFL. Limits aren't a problem for him, so anywhere is OK. He'll usually shop a few SportsBooks to find a line or odds more favorable to his side of the wager and place his bet wherever that is. The Las Vegas Hilton, just off-Strip but available by monorail, probably offers the greatest variety of proposition and "season-long" wagers, so he'll often end up there. Otherwise DonDiego counsels one can just pick any 'book that's likely to still be in business when it's time to pay off the bet.

If one plays Video Poker, one should play the better pay-table machines. Probably someone on this forum can identify them.

Slots is slots. Craps is craps. Roulette is roulette, . . . 'cept one could seek a single-zero table if there is one. DonDiego'd look for more favorable player-odds, . . . but he doesn't know the variations, if any, available at different casinos.

Otherwise, . . . and if one just "wants to gamble", DonDiego recommends pick the place with the gaming environment in which one is most comfortable and likely to enjoy oneself. F'rinstance, DonDiego really liked the Pirate-Theme at the Casino Hotel formerly known as Treasure Island, . . . so they got rid of it.

This is the Treasure Island Peg-Legged Parrot-Pirate who looks over DonDiego's left shoulder whenever he is at the computer. (That is a pistol in his belt !)

Bellagio is pretty classy, what with the Conservatory and everything. The Monte Carlo is usually pretty quiet. The Venetian is cool-European.
Harrah's is in the middle of everything and typical middle-class-America in appeal and style, . . . but it's a Harrah's property and offers below average player-friendly games.
Hmm, . . . here's a thought: one should look up the Buffet prices along the Strip; the finer casino ambiance is likely to be found at those outfits charging the most. Go there.

Oh, and if there's still a "Sigma-Derby" game, . . . one should go there too!
Ditto on the poor odds on the strip; therefore, I'll provide input based on atmosphere, dealer/staff, and drink service at the following strip casinos:

Excalibur (seek out a dealer named Fernando - guy is awesome).

Palms and Hard Rock (off strip but lively casino floors with good music)

We enjoy Caesars properties: Caesars, Bally's, Flamingo, and Paris with the edge going to Caesars and Paris for drink service

Finally, last summer we checked out the newly remodeled Tropicana and were highly impressed. Great dealers, friendly staff, low minimums, and of course steady drink service.
On strip: I enjoy Ballys.
