Best Steak Dinner Downtown Vegas?

Where's the best place downtown to get a steak dinner? I got a small bonus at work and looking to blow part of it on a steak dinner on my next trip.

I was looking at Hugo's Cellar. They have some good choices but then $54 for a 16oz strip steak started seaming a bit expensive even though it includes a full meal. Next I was looking at Redwood bar and Grill where they have the $24 porterhouse special. This is more my speed, but then since it's bonus money maybe I should splurge. Is Hugh's Cellar really twice as good?

I'm not real big on playing dress up, either.

I'm also not wed to downtown, but that's my home base. I do expect to hit the strip one or twice. I also will have a car for a day or two.
I haven't been, but the Hungry Detective (former cop who does shows on the Food Network) raved about Binions. I have no idea if Binion's Steakhouse is still open?
Don't know about Hugo's, but the steak at Flame (ElCortez resturant) was pretty good for under $30 for a meal. I had the filet w/baked potato and sauted mushrooms and I was stuffed. The damn tater was freaking huge!

The MRB has a coupon for Flame.
The only steakhouse I've eatin at is the Flame at El Cortez.Think I've been there 4 times and has always been excelent. Is not priced to high, but if you order an entree, you pay extra if you want a potato side dish or a vegtable.Garlic mashed potatoes and french fries are good sized portions. Also, if you pay off your club card you receive a discount based on what level you are on the card.I could be wrong, but I think it is half off if you are entry level with the card, great deal.

Both Binions and The Flame offer outstanding Porterhouse steaks. The Flame is a good bit cheaper but Binions offers a fantastic view of Vegas from about 20 stories high. Binions is also a bit fancier, but will cost you 50% more.
Never eaten at Hugos. I hear the food is outstanding, but not cheap. I've been told by several people the place is so dark they had trouble reading the menu.
I'd also like to give a vote for the Flame.Great steaks and the sauted mushrooms are very good.
The Redwood is OK and so is Fremonts Second Street grill special($18.99 porterhouse).

If you want a bit more upscale, Ruths Chris may have the best steak in this price range, and Kokomos at Mirage has a good filet(though small) and nice atmosphere with a waterfall and such. You will want to order off the fixed price menu as a ala carte meal at these places with desert wine, tax, tip will run $75-100 per person. Although I will say that the rib eye at Ruths Chris is delicious. The fixed price menu with a glass of house wine, tax and tip will run $60. Anywho....

Also pretty good and inexpensive is Mon Ami Gabi at Paris. Really nice dining on the patio if weather permits, under $40 for food, drink, tax, and tip, although you will have to have an open mind as to what a steak is. And don't order any sides or appetizers. You won't be able to eat all that.
You get a discount, but I don't think its 50% for the entry level cardholders.
Lots of coupons around for The flame- POV, ACG, plus they often run newspaper ads. Binions doesn't do much in the way of coupons.
25% off in POV is about the best I've seen.
I actually have to grade "The Flame" lower.

We had a restaurant.com coupon for The Flame. The food was tasty, and service was great. But what ruined it was looking at the bill.
They charged 2.50 for soda (which I'm ok with). The pepsi came in a small slim glass (similar to a champagne flute -- holds about 6 ounces). No problem though, we can just drink and refill.
Here's the kicker....They charged for each and every refill $2.50. We drank $30 in Pepsi (of which, only 3 people ordered a soft drink!!!)
That ruined our dinner.

My 2 cents

Take a look at cheapovegas.com......they have all of the downtown restaurants listed and kind of give you an idea how much it will cost. I actually thought the California Market Street Cafe was pretty good.......if you like prime rib its a good deal. I think the steak on the menu was reasonably priced although ive not tried it. Im not sure if Binions Top of Binions steakhouse is open anymore.......
