BK Whopper Bar opening at the Rio

It doesnt surprise me. McDonalds and Chipotle, then Starbucks and beer and wine, and now Burger King.

BK had a great "breakfast bar" concept in the early 1980s that they tried in Miami's Kendall section. It was a breakfast buffet with pancakes, sausages, bacon, all kinds of toppings and at a fixed price. Damn thing failed and I dont know why?? This was BEFORE the other fast food chains expanded to market breakfast.

And remember that BK is now owned by a liquor company.

Yea, but I was drinking beer at fast food resturants back in the early 1980's. Albeit in Germany, however the concept is very dated and the beer will be crappy.

Who in the hell is going to have a Budwiser or any typical American watered down beer at an upscale eatery? Either go with a Sam Adams or import or real beer.

What, no Kobe beef Whopper? More lame-o want-a-be concept. Either go big and unique, or stay the hell out of that particular market.

chefan... look who BK is marketing to. Look for Mcdonalds is marketing too. Even Starbucks sells an inferior coffee that you think is good because of its marketing success.

BK isnt going after an upscale market. BK is going after a lower market that wants to think it is moving to an upscale market.

if you want a gourmet burger you are going to go to a gourmet burger place.

but if youve been a BK customer, and BK was your level of burgers, now BK will take you up a notch.

and look at where they are putting the new joints... on South Beach, inside the Rio... and why? its all in the marketing.

Detroit has done the same thing for years... using the same frames and engines and stuff just putting a new body and label on the same basic car.
